บท 8: Chapter 8: The Aftermath of Unity

The dust settled on the battlefield, and the once-proud village of the wolf beastkin lay subdued under the control of Ebonwood. Simha, who had led his people to victory, now faced a new challenge—one not of war, but of mercy and governance.

As he walked through the vanquished village, Simha's heart weighed heavy. The wolf beastkin, his new subjects, were a broken people. Their homes were in disarray, their storerooms empty. The banditry that had plagued Ebonwood had been their desperate attempt at survival, for the wolf kin required sustenance far greater than most.

The animosity between the villagers of Ebonwood and the wolf beastkin was palpable. The Ebonwood villagers bore the scars of the recent attack, their grief and anger fresh. They called for retribution, for the wolf kin to be cast out or enslaved.

But Simha saw a different path, one forged from the difficult but noble metal of equality. He addressed his people, his voice resolute amidst the cries for vengeance.

"**My people, look upon our new brethren not with eyes of retribution, but with the vision of peace,**" Simha implored. "**The wolf kin are not our enemies; they are victims of circumstance, driven to extremes by the same desperation that once gripped our village.**"

He turned to the wolf beastkin, his gaze meeting theirs. "**You have fought against us, but today, I offer you a chance to join us. Together, we can build a future where no child goes hungry, where no family fears the cold bite of winter.**"

Simha proposed a plan of integration. The wolf kin would share their strength and knowledge of the forests, and in return, Ebonwood would share its innovations in agriculture and governance. He introduced the concept of communal meals, where each beastkin, regardless of their origin, would contribute and partake.

The Ebonwood villagers were hesitant, their wounds still fresh, but Simha's conviction swayed them. The wolf kin, humbled and grateful, pledged their loyalty to the man who had shown them mercy in their darkest hour.

As the days turned to weeks, the two villages began to heal. The wolf kin's knowledge of hunting and tracking supplemented Ebonwood's agricultural bounty. The human-powered machines Simha had introduced were adapted to aid the wolf kin in their tasks, making their labor more efficient and less burdensome.

The chapter closes with a feast, a celebration of unity. Beastkin of all kinds sat side by side, sharing stories and laughter. Simha, once a simple salaryman from Tokyo, now stood as a leader of a united people, his heart full of hope for a peaceful and prosperous future.

Ebonwood had grown, not just in size, but in spirit. The seeds of change had blossomed into a tree of unity, its roots deep in the soil of equality and its branches sheltering all who sought refuge beneath them.
