บท 18: Rekindled Desire
"Give me the person's ID," Khodri said while staring at a white bracelet that sat comfortably on his thick black wrist.
"I think it's 216F-E-ZY-KD-OT," Unsure, Alistar said while trying his best to recall what Lilith's Universal ID was.
Although what he said might seem small, it was actually a bunch of multiple numbers that had been shortened to a great length.
So now instead of memorizing those numbers, someone just needs to know the number they had when they purchased a General Purpose bracelet and the location. Or more precisely, the City, the State, the Country, the Continent, and even the Planet.
Inputting what Alistar had told him, the short letter and words that Khodri had inputted soon turned into a messy mash of signs, words, and letters that were about a hundred characters.
And this mess contained everything about someone from marital status to the schools the person attended. Everything was recorded in those hundred-plus characters.
All this was possible due to Nous, an autonomous AI that was created by the most intelligent race in the Universe.
Their purpose for creating it is unknown but do other Races care? Of course not, as long as they got to use their tech no one was complaining.
In less than a second, the holographic image of a lady could be seen. She had short black hair that reached her nape, thin eyebrows that matched the color of her hair, emerald green eyes, and an oval-shaped face that was coupled with a sublime figure that would awaken the lust of a well-trained Monk.
Staring at the beauty before him for more than a minute, Khodri had his eyes wide open and mouth agape as he murmured. "Jesus Christ take my soul away."
"Ahem..." Clearing his throat to awaken Khodri who was ogling the lady before him, Alistar asked. "Did anything come up?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, it says Lilith Adrif." Khodri said, breaking out of his daze after Alistar coughed.
Instantly making the image visible to Alistar, Khodri kept his calm as he acted like he didn't have lusty thoughts when he saw Lilith.
"Yep, she's the one," Alistar stated after staring at the picture for a while but unlike Khodri, he had no pervy thoughts.
Although she looked different from how Alistar remembers and her age threw him off cause she looked nothing like it, Alistar had a hunch it was her. And when he read her bio, that hunch was solidified.
"So can you call her now?" Slightly pissed that Khodri was back to ogling the photo, Alistar's eyebrows twitched slightly as a small frown appeared on his face.
"Can you call her now?" Alistar asked again after seeing Khodri was still lost in his unrealistic fantasy.
"Sorry, I was just... Cough... I was just thinking." Khodri said, trying to hide the fact that he was imagining ways to get Lilith in his bed.
Looking at Alistar's disbelieving look, he added. "Thinking of ways to grow stronger."
Aware that what Khodri had said was pure bullshit, Alistar said. "Whatever, just call her already."
Ignoring Alistar's remark, Khodri called Lilith while setting it to audio only.
Picked after a couple of rings, a pleasant-sounding angelic voice resounded from the other end. "Hello, who am I speaking to please?"
'Not only is she a goddess her voice sounds so angelic.' Having his infatuation for Lilith soar after hearing her voice, Khodri had a pleased smile creep on his face.
"It's me, Alistar," Alistar said, massaging his eyebrows after seeing the creepy look on Khodri's face.
'I doubt he has had a real relationship with a lady.' Alistar thought, sympathizing with Khodri for lusting over the wrong person.
"Alistar?" Initially surprised, Liz's voice was soon filled with rage as she scolded. "I was worried about you. I even asked the police to look all over for you and after we found that monster in your house we all thought you were dead."
With her voice cracking the more she spoke, Alistar felt a little guilty even though he had done nothing wrong.
"Where are you now?" Worried, Lilith asked planning to come pick Alistar as quickly as possible.
"I'm in Ironshade Town-"
"He's with me. I vow on my life that I'll protect him no matter what." Khodri said, interrupting Alistar while butting into their conversation.
Before Lilith could reply, Khodri said in a dignified tone. "I'm one of the Ascenders Management Team officials in Ironshade Town."
"F*cking simp," Alistar muttered with twitching eyebrows.
Sighing, Alistar could only watch how Khodri kept boasting while trying to comfort Lilith that he'd be fine for the past half hour. Hell, there were times when Khodri had scolded him for no reason.
Happy and relieved, Lilith said. "I'm glad he's with someone as capable as you and thanks for taking him to Azurewind City."
"The pleasure is mine, ma'am," Khodri replied.
"Can we-"
Just as Khodri wanted to continue their talk, Lilith had already hung up.
Clenching his fists, Khodri looked at Alistar and said. "I'll give you anything just hook me up with Lilith."
Dumbfounded, Alistar stared at Khodri for a while before saying. "You can't get a chance with her, she is a nun. Besides, you can never give me what I want."
"Uh?" Instead of getting mad at him, Khodri's brain had already short-circuited at Alistar's first sentence.
'She is a nun. She is a nun. She is a nun...'
Having Alistar's words repeat themselves in his mind like a broken record, Khodri was left staring in front of him absentmindedly.
"He's hopeless," Alistar said, losing almost every strand of respect he had for Khodri.
"But there was a time when I was even worse." With his voice becoming cold, the image of his wife kept appearing in Alistar's mind.
"I would never become so petty." He said, standing up from where he sat before walking toward the restroom —well not without asking for directions.
Reminded of his wife's face and the pain the Green-scaled Vine Komodo had him through, Alistar's blood boiled as his desire to grow stronger climbed through the rough.
Never again would he be in such a helpless situation. And tomorrow, his climb to the peak shall officially begin.
