[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
Snape walked through the corridors of Hogwarts after lunch in the castle's kitchen, still pondering the information that the small creatures had given him, even thinking about acquiring some of them for himself in the future, since they were quite useful.
As he passed, he ignored the continuous curious looks and some expressions hoping he would glance at some of them, being the most interesting topic of the day. Entering through the main staircase, he entered the corridor as soon as he arrived on the first floor, heading towards the library. Upon reaching it, he found himself in a huge place within the castle filled with countless shelves of books aligned side by side, corridors full of bookcases brimming with magical tomes, and numerous tables with some filled by students who preferred to come study rather than go eat in the communal hall.
Snape looked towards a corner of the library that was closed off with a large, indicating that the area was forbidden, which was his goal there.
'I would like to read other tomes in the common library, but I certainly won't waste the opportunity to be in the forbidden section today.' Snape thought as he headed towards the main counter, where the librarian was.
Madame Irma Pince, the librarian, a woman with severe expressions and little tolerance for infractions, was organizing some scrolls on her table. Upon seeing Snape approaching, she was a bit surprised as she tried to sift through her memories behind this unknown student.
She put the scrolls aside and turned her attention to the boy. "Who might you be? I don't remember a student like you." She did not even greet him, just demanding who the boy might be.
"I am Severus Snape. A fifth-year student." Snape commented with a neutral tone.
"Snape?" Her expression hardened even more, if that was possible. She had never had a favorable opinion about him, believing he always brought more trouble and disorder to the tranquility of her library, after all, the Marauders hunted him even there, and Madame Pince always had to deal with the troublemakers and Snape, even being the victim of the Gryffindor students' pursuit. "You look different, Snape, even so, what can I do for you? I wouldn't want the library to become chaos again in the second week of this year." She said sternly.
Snape was not shaken by her hostile tone and spoke calmly, "Nothing much, just letting you know that I'll be accessing the forbidden section today." He said.
At this moment, the librarian was silent for a moment, still trying to absorb Snape's last words. "What do you mean by that?" She looked at him grimly, disbelieving what she heard.
"I'm going to the forbidden section." He said, looking her in the eyes.
"You must be joking, Mr. Snape, and that is not funny at all, you better give me a good reason not to ban you from the library for the rest of the school year." She said to the man.
"The headmaster has given me this privilege, if you don't believe me, look for him yourself, we have an agreement and I intend to consume all my benefits. Anyway, just letting you know I'll be heading there." Snape commented with a rather dangerous tone.
"Don't come at me with something like this, the forbidden section is not for students, Mr. Snape. You know that very well." She said, not intimidated by Snape while speaking as if hearing the most absurd thing in recent years.
"Whatever it is... You can look for the director for this." He said and simply began to head for the gates, at this moment the students had already heard that kind of talk and looked stunned here and the same could be described of the paintings that began gossiping with each other.
"You think you can enter the forbidden section without the key? Let the director know about this!" She exclaimed sternly as she saw Snape walking away, no longer caring about her.
Snape ignored her and approached the entrance, studying the bars, 'It's full of magical protections, as much as the entrance to Slytherin... But it doesn't seem resistant to physical force...' Snape concluded as he placed his hand on the door.
The gaze of everyone rose as the librarian looked stunned at Snape and what he was doing, the place seemed to glow with numerous magical glyphs, with the magical barriers being activated. However, this seemed ineffective as Snape began to pull the door and the bars made a sound as they bent with the door being pulled, the whole place was shocked by this.
"What are you doing?!" Madame Pince shouted, horrified as the bars gave way while Snape pulled the entrance with his bare hands, and if she was shocked, something even more surprising happened, as the door gave in to Snape's strength and it broke from the cage of bars, with an explosive sound as Snape threw the door back, breaking one of the tables while only students were scared.
The audacity and ease with which the student violates one of the most sacred taboos of the library, makes Madame Pince jump in fright seeing that Snape actually broke the door to the forbidden section, even without understanding here, after all, he was not using magic. "This is unacceptable! You cannot simply destroy the magical protections! I will speak to Headmaster Dumbledore immediately!" she exclaims, her voice echoing mixed with indignation and panic, as she ran out and the students looked in fear at Snape in front of the forbidden section.
He ignored the woman running out of the library and went forward while the bars were dented, he encountered shelves even older than in the common library, giving a sense of mystery to each of those books.
His eyes swept the shelves, absorbing titles of forbidden knowledge and spells forgotten by time. He is in search of something very specific: information on dimensional and temporal magic. Snape knows these topics are delicate and dangerous in this world, treated with great caution even by the most renowned wizards. However, it is exactly this type of knowledge he needs to explore the possibilities of one day wanting to leave this world.
Ignoring books on ancient curses and deadly potions, he delved into the section he read about on a sign regarding the knowledge of space. He went through the section looking at each of the titles, while one caught his attention. "Temporal Crossings and Hidden Dimensions," he reads the title in a whisper, and immediately takes the book from the shelf carefully.
Seeing an empty table, he settles down as he began to open the book, meanwhile, Madame Pince arrives in the common hall with heavy steps, and everyone knew that this woman only left the library when there was a big problem.
She approached the main table as the headmaster stood up, "What is it Madame Pince, has something happened for you to come here?" He asked calmly.
"Yes, Severus Snape! He broke into the forbidden section before entering it!!" She exclaimed with an accusation, leaving all those who still remained in the hall shocked by what they heard.
"He did what?!" The potions professor exclaimed in shock.
"He is violating all the rules of the castle!" Minerva said sternly.
"Settle down." Albus commented trying to control the situation, "I will talk to him." He said after all he had a deal with Snape, even though he had not spoken with the librarian about this. He simply disappeared using his teleportation magic going to the library.
Already in the forbidden section itself, Snape was immersed in that book he read, as he reads, he discovers theories about space-time travel with the magic of this world, portals to parallel dimensions, and methods of conjuration that could, theoretically, break the barriers of the current dimension creating a vacuum in space-time. Although none of that seemed very studied and deepened, many wizards seemed to have died trying to reach their theories, there was a time when this study was even forbidden in this world many centuries ago, for fear of breaking reality and creating chaos in the laws of the world.
Snape had never studied dimensional laws in depth, so what he had in his hands was quite interesting to start with. He mentally notes the most promising principles and the warnings that accompanied such practices. It is clear that any attempt to manipulate temporal or dimensional magic is risky, but for Snape, it would be a start for his future studies.
Lost in his notes and theories, he barely notices time passing, moving on to the next book he picks from the shelf and places on his table—a diary of a wizard who attempted to cross a dimension through a rift in space but ended up disappearing after that and was never seen again 200 years ago.
He moved on to a third book with theories on the workings of magical time, but everything was so limited. 'I must consult Muggle books...' Snape came to a conclusion, seeing his attempt to understand how wizards dealt with these matters as quite unsuccessful in the end.
"As I thought, wizards ignore the Muggle world and miss the opportunity to learn from them..." He couldn't help but murmur, and at that moment, he quickly looked up, grabbing his wand, because a man approached him while he was immersed in his pages, studying.
He looked at the man in front of him and raised an eyebrow, after all, he did not expect to encounter that man so soon after yesterday, his gaze was piercing at Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
"I must admit that I never imagined hearing such words coming from your mouth." Albus approached with a grandfatherly tone.
"..." Snape didn't respond immediately, already imagining what was happening there, after the librarian left the library frustrated. "If you're here to scold me... You must know very well about our agreement, I am only wanting what we agreed upon." Snape commented calmly, setting the book aside.
"I cannot deny your words, although I was quite surprised when Madame Pince told me that you simply broke the bars of this section." He spoke calmly.
"I saw that she would not hand over the key, so I opened the way myself." Snape shrugged.
The headmaster didn't seem angry about this but said, "Even so, no student or even professor should break its magical defenses." He said with a curious tone.
"These barriers are made for magic, not for brute and physical force." Snape said. "Tell me, Headmaster, what do you want with me? I am in the middle of a study here, even though I may be attracting attention, I am not doing anything that doesn't already belong to me." He said with a hawkish look.
Dumbledore sighed. "Perhaps we can talk a little, after all, there are some people unhappy with you, if you would allow me." He said.
Snape didn't disagree with him, but although he didn't want to be bothered there, he agreed to talk to the headmaster, since the man wouldn't leave him in peace until they had this kind of conversation.
