บท 39: Trap Set

They drove through the empty streets. Broken cars littered the road, and from a distance one could clearly hear the moans of the undead echoing around them. The SUV rumbled over debris and potholes while the group remained silent—too silent, which made Kia feel a little uncomfortable.

It felt like it was all because of his presence. Were they still terrified by what happened to him? Did they still suspect him? Questions ran through his head, making him feel restless.

Trying to distract himself, he turned his attention toward the window. It was closed to prevent a zombie from sneaking up on them, so he could only stare through the tinted glass.

The world outside felt like a wasteland. To think all this had happened in just a matter of days. Kia took a deep breath, looked down at his watch, staring back at nothing but a blank screen, and then at Sofie, who was now fast asleep. There was nothing else to do. He rested his head beside her and soon also fell asleep.
