"Oh?" Nathan's curiosity piqued when he heard Ava speak.
"You've sent me so many things recently. I thought I should return the favor. You seem to have everything, and your mom mentioned your irregular eating habits. I figured you might not have had dinner, so I took the time to make something." Ava's words were simple, but Nathan felt a stir in his heart, sensing an underlying message.
"It makes me feel my gifts weren't in vain," Nathan joked.
"By the way, how is Iris doing? She fell into the water the other day. Is she okay now?"
Ava found the atmosphere awkward and blurted out Iris's name before she could stop herself. Why bring up Iris at a time like this?
Nathan frowned—Ava usually didn't get along with Iris, so why mention her now? Today's Ava was certainly acting out of character.
"I don't know." Nathan opted for honesty over games, thinking it safer to stick to the truth.
