As Ryan sifted through the documents, he let out a deep sigh. It dawned on him that the woman must have been his mother. Had someone taken him from her against her will?
Was he a victim of abduction? Had someone snatched him away from his parents?
He turned to the director and declared, "I'm the boy in question."
The director squinted at him, cautious about revealing too much. He feared that he might inadvertently say something he couldn't later defend.
Ryan reassured him that he was being truthful. He pulled out the adoption papers his foster parents had given him, which were meant to aid in tracing his biological family. Only then did the director seem convinced.
Curious, Ryan asked who the director of the orphanage had been at the time the woman had come in crying. The director answered him without hesitation.
