As this was obviously a taunting tactic, Eddison frowned upon hearing this.
"Miss Simons, what about you? Do you really think that you don't have to face them? Are you planning to let us deal with them instead? Tell me, where is the determination for the both of you to be together?" Vanessa directed her question at Caroline.
"Mom, stop trying to hurt Caroline with your words. You'll hurt her no matter what you say, so please stop," Eddison pleaded.
He didn't want Caroline and his mother to clash head-on.
Vanessa sneered, "What about you then? You said you want to be together, but what now? Now that they're inviting you over for a meal together, you aren't even going! I told you that we're close with the Long family, but you are the ones who weren't bothered, so what are you afraid of?"
"We're not afraid. We aren't going because they don't deserve it," Eddison said, "But since you insist, then we will tag along, alright?"
