บท 9: Chapter 8: Games in this world
[Venom POV]
As I get back to my ride, I drive to the nearest mall I can find. Apparently Gotham Mall.
As I drive towards it according to my GPS nav, I sort out the basics Batsy told me about his current situation as Wayne. According to him, he is currently like a non active Shareholder/owner of Wayne Industries at the moment. He already made some sort of friendship with Lucius Fox and is in the process of having him actually develop his bat toys. In this world, he was not declared dead, only overseas for studies. So his return never became a surprise like in the Nolan trilogy.
But since he was gone so long, extremely few knew his face now. For the time being Bats wanted to keep it that way. Another difference I found out was that here, Bats was still the majority stock holder. It was temporarily transferred to Alfred, his legal guardian until he reached adulthood. Just to be sure that it wouldn't get sold off, I told Alfred to buy the stocks from other shareholders if they ever sold it.
So bottom line, the company is taken care of and I can do whatever I wanted.
As I parked my car, I entered the mall in search of the current video games here. As in my former life, I was very much into novels, books, and of course gaming. But being this rich gave me a few ideas which were in the realm of impossibility before.
In the game store, what I saw was practically depressing. Very few games. As if it was the famcom era. Despite knowing there would eventually be freeze guns, genetic manipulation, clones and stuff within this generation later on, the games are extremely behind and super old tech. Now that I think about it, I suppose that is a result of living in a dangerous universe like this. Maybe people don't feel safe enough that entertainment is severely behind. Even old arcades are still a thing here.
That's when it hit me. "I can make my own can't I? I'm able to afford buying a game company or two. I mean batsy usually throws money buying a whole club just to get in so why not stuff like this?"
So I called Alfred from my phone. "He should be awake now right?"

"Yes master venom?" The old butler asks.
"Say what?" I asked surprised.
"Master Bruce already gave me the heads up regarding your deal Sir."
"Oh...that's ...cool I guess." At least this made it more simple. "I want you to contact the best video game developer company you can get hold of and try to buy it for me please. And I want it separate from Wayne Industries. I would like to keep this as my project and not the company's."
"Of course Sir. I'll have it arranged." Alfred says before ending the call.
While he does that, I then walk towards the nearest bookstore just to check as well and true enough, fiction books are also not yet that developed. Maybe people really do have a hard time being creative for entertainment when they live in a dangerous world like this. Disappointed, I walked towards some random shop that sells computers and randomly bought one for now.
"H-hello, welcome to our store!" A saleswoman says with a slight blush. "Would you like to take a look around and check out our new products? I-I can show you around if you like!"
"Tell me, how much do you actually know about computers? Are you familiar with specs and parts?" I ask her.
"Y-Yes I have a degree on I.T. I think I can give you the right products you need!" She exclaims.
"Alright then. Please give me the best one you got with highest specs for both Desktop and Laptop. Then one of each of the lowest as well."
The lady rushes to complete my order. From the looks of it, she might be quite happy considering I'm buying the most expensive one and it might be counted as her commission. After paying for it through card, she then gets staff from the store help bring them to my car and tries to discretely give her number along with my receipt. I simply smile as I accept it and drive home for now. Normally I would show interest but as I have quite exciting plans, I push it behind my mind for now.
Since they don't have the good games from my world here, I think I'll have them made instead. Just thinking about it somehow excites me.
