"Hazel," Bel called gently as she lay down. "What's happening?" she asked.
"Nothing," Hazel said with a feigned smile.
Bel knew her sister, and if there was one thing that was pretty much common knowledge, Hazel sucked at lying. She couldn't lie to save herself, especially if the truth was quite heavy.
"This doesn't look like nothing," Bel replied. She would have sat up if she could, but right now, all she could do was lie down and wait until she felt better.
"It is. I just wanted to say goodnight," Hazel mumbled and walked closer to her.
"Are you still worried about this afternoon?" Bel asked.
"Yes," Hazel said a little too quickly.
Bel frowned but didn't push. "I told you I'm fine."
Hazel nodded. "I heard what happened to you was awful. We all don't know the full story yet, but we're all willing to wait until you're better to find out."
