Irene gritted her teeth when she saw Catelyn sitting in the VIP room. Her wicked sister waved at her shamelessly, even deliberately sitting closer to Daniel who was next to her.
"What are you doing here?" asked Irene as she narrowed her eyes. She closed the door so that none of the boutique employees would hear their argument.
Catelyn crossed her legs, then directed her gaze towards some wedding dresses hanging in the fitting room.
"What else? Of course, I'm here to order a wedding dress. But you have no idea how surprised I was when the boutique said you wanted a wedding gown fitting today."
Daniel scoffed at her. "You've been acting like a victim, but in fact also cheated on me while we were still dating."
Irene laughed before she gave Daniel a sharp look. "Don't you dare talk shit about me. Unlike you, I won't act like a slut."
"What did you say?!" Daniel stood up from the chair. He clenched his fists and walked towards Irene. Instead of backing away, Irene raised her head, as if to challenge Daniel.
"I said, you're a slut who can't keep your pants on." Irene shrugged. "Who knows how many women you've slept with? Fortunately, we broke up because I didn't want to get gonorrhea."
Daniel raised his hand, about to slap Irene's cheek. However, before he could touch her, the room door suddenly opened.
"Mr. Hawkin, I advise you not to be violent in this place." Amber pushed his chest so that he would move away from Irene. "There are about four CCTVs in this room. If you don't want your actions to be exposed in the media tomorrow morning, then I advise you to leave."
"Amber?" Daniel frowned, feeling confused as to why his former secretary was suddenly defending Irene. "Do you know this woman?"
Amber, "Please, speak formally to me, Mr. Hawkin. I'm not your subordinate anymore."
"You heard her, Daniel. She is no longer your secretary, but my assistant," Irene said.
Her words made Catelyn laugh until her voice echoed in the room. "Didn't I hear you wrong? I'm not even sure you have the money to buy food after going bankrupt, let alone hire an assistant."
Based on Amber's background working for a large company like the Croix Company, Catelyn could estimate her salary to be in the tens of thousands of dollars per month.
"You're right, I am broke. That's why I'm now a gold digger by profession." Irene took out her black card from her purse. "With this little shit, I can buy any item I want in this place. Maybe I can also buy your not-so-high price."
"Watch your mouth!"
Catelyn's face turned red from holding back anger. If there was no CCTV in the room, she might have grabbed her step-sister's hair. However, there was something else that made Catelyn prefer to watch her behavior in front of Irene.
She had no idea who the man behind her was and how much influence he had on the business world to the point that Irene had such confidence.
"Have you become a mistress of an old man?" Catelyn hid her worries by acting annoying. "Tsk. Tsk. You must be so desperate that you're willing to sleep with a nasty old man."
Instead of taking offense, Irene laughed out loud, making Catelyn wonder if her sister had gone crazy. "You're right. I was so desperate that I had to climb onto the old man's bed."
Irene walked toward Catelyn and then whispered next to her ear. "But be careful, my dearest sister. That old man pampers me so much that maybe he'll ruin your business if you keep bothering me."
Catelyn rounded her eyes, her whole body trembled, and her legs felt weak. Irene's words did not sound like a mere joke, but a threat that could actually be carried out.
Irene lowered her gaze, staring at Catelyn clenching her trembling hands. The rare sight made her laugh inwardly. After winning Irene's father's heart, Catelyn had not felt threatened by his presence for a long time, but that day she realized that Irene remained her main threat.
Although she had tried to destroy Irene repeatedly, the firstborn of the Russell family still stood firm as a rock.
"I advise you to get out of this place now before I give the footage of your lover wanting to slap me to the media." Irene emphasized her words, "Isn't your current reputation not to be damaged, sister?"
A businessman whose name has just risen in the media must always watch their step. If they get bad news, then all their hard work will come crashing down because they don't have loyal customers yet.
Catelyn snorted harshly, then tugged Daniel's hand. "Let's get out of here. We can get fitted at a boutique that's nicer than this place."
Before Catelyn opened the door, Irene told her, "By the way, I'm going to marry that old man. I hope you can make it to my wedding."
Catelyn turned around and scoffed at her, "I can't wait to see his wife crash into your wedding and embarrass you in front of everyone."
Irene chuckled. "That sounds interesting."
Irene's nonchalant reply annoyed Catelyn even more, so she immediately left the boutique and ignored the questions of the employees who thought she was dissatisfied with their service.
Miranda hurriedly approached Irene. She lowered her head and worry was clearly printed on her face. "Have we done something wrong to make your sister leave? Or are the designs here too bad for her?"
Irene walked around the room to look at the wedding dresses on display. "Don't worry about that. My sister left because she had urgent business. You must know that she's been a hot topic in the media."
Miranda let out a sigh of relief, then smiled. "She's such a talented young woman. I didn't expect her to be able to create such beautiful jewelry designs at such a young age."
Irene squeezed the dress in front of her, trying to suppress the anger that was beginning to explode in her heart. "You're right. She's such a talented young woman."
Catelyn was talented at stealing and making people believe in her innocent demeanor. Had Irene been able to remove her mask, everyone would have given Catelyn a disgusted look.
"Looks like I'll be coming here again later," said Irene.
Miranda was speechless for a moment. She wondered if the service at the boutique was so bad that the two sisters wanted to leave so quickly.
As if knowing Miranda's thoughts, Irene explained, "There are many wedding dresses here, so it's hard for me to decide what to wear. That's why I want to bring my fiance so that he can help me choose a suitable dress."
