Morning came, and the rain stopped. Ron woke up and found himself dressed in neat and clean clothes. As if what happened in the darkness of the night was just a dream, he found Madam Bones acting as usual, sitting at the side fully clothed. Her hair was neatly tied, and her face was emotionless.
I hope she forgets what happened last night.
"That wound you received had become infected," Madam Bones said. "I healed it as much as possible, but you still need medicine to drink."
So we're not going to talk about it? Works for me. Ron sat up and noticed the untouched lunchbox from the previous night.
"You should eat something, Madam Bones," he suggested and opened it, taking out the sandwiches. "We don't know how many there are."
Sighing, she nodded and shared the food with him. Looking much better, she was able to use magic to warm the food. But most of the time was spent in silence there.
"Let's move. We need to find the one you defeated yesterday. If the wand is still there, I can possibly use that to contact the Ministry." She got up and removed the clumsy blockade Ron had made to hide the entrance. "Stay behind me."
"Yes, Madam Bones." Ron, like a good, innocent boy, walked behind her. But sometimes, he couldn't help but glance at her shapely, swaying rear. The warmth he had felt between them wasn't something he was going to forget for a long time.
Crunch!
"There!" Madam Bones quickly crouched and aimed her wand to the left.
But right then, another rustling of leaves reverberated, and Ron aimed to the right. "They are all around us. We will have to fight, Madam Bones."
"Can you fight?"
Ron honestly had no answer. "I… I've been very lucky with my shots these past few months."
"Very well, use the most lethal spells you know. Don't give them a second chance to retaliate," Madam Bones instructed him like he was an Auror. "Stay behind me. You most likely don't know the Protego charm."
"There they are!"
"Avada Kedavara!"
In a few moments, chaos ensued. Death Eaters started to pour in from all sides, flashing spells with their wands at them. Thankfully, Madam Bones was proficient in dueling and blocked the attacks. But, as more enemies came, it slowly started to become a struggle.
"Hit them with something, Mr. Weasley. I will keep them at bay."
Ron agreed and thought of a lethal spell. Something deadly? Then, that one should do the trick.
"Here I go!" Ron waved his wand and roared towards one of the enemies. "Crucio!"
Thud!
An invisible blast of his anger raged through and hit one of the wizards he didn't know, and seriously didn't care about.
"..."
Madam Bones was left in shock at Ron's choice of curse. "An unforgivable curse?!"
Ron just realized he had committed a crime worthy of Azkaban. "P-Professor Moody taught this to us… The fake Moody."
"It's self-defense," Madam Bones replied and focused back on the nine wizards left. "Keep using it! Knock them all out. But don't use the Killing Curse. If these are Death Eaters, they all must be from influential families… they will cause you trouble."
Ron nodded and, from there, started his frenzy of attacks. "Crucio! Crucio! Crucio! Crucio!"
"Argh!"
"Noooo!"
Thud!
One after another, as if Ron had become a killing machine, he shot one wizard down with one spell each. It was a great efficiency since the enemies jumped around regularly. However, as they started becoming wary of the one they considered 'just a boy', the Crucio became less effective.
"Five left… I can't hit them," Ron complained as he kept waving his wand in the air.
"I'll deal with them. Stay behind me," Madam Bones replied and started walking forward toward the enemies. Even after having deflecting attacks from ten wizards, she swung her wand and fought like a master.
It was a pure display of magic by a badass Auror, and it was absolutely awe-inspiring. The head of DMLE moved so swiftly and dangerously, sometimes not even bothering to say her spell aloud. Shielding, deflecting, and attacking, it looked like a dance.
I can't believe this… Ron was in absolute awe of this powerful woman. I did it with someone like her? Merlin, save me!
After seeing her acting like a killing machine, and being so serious, he couldn't help but feel a little scared. But, not wanting to be seen as weak, he chose to attack as well. Being slightly taller than her at six feet, Ron had a good view.
"Crucio!" He chose the same spell.
"Avad—"
"What?!" Ron suddenly heard a voice from behind and jumped at Madam Bones. "Duck!"
Woosh!
The Killing Curse flew over them and hit one of the enemies, instantly killing him.
Ron wasted no time, grabbed small sticks and stones, and threw them towards the attacker behind him. "Engorgio!"
The sticks and stones instantly enlarged and flew at the enemy, taking his concentration away and making him use a spell to remove the projectiles.
"Fuck off—Long-haired Malfoy!" Ron roared and leaped towards the attacker right behind the blocking stones and sticks. "Crucio!"
And it was a bloody success, won by an inch. Right on Ron's face, the stones exploded, some shards even hitting him on the cheeks and forehead, leaving him bloodied. However, already in his leap, his Crucio went ahead and hit the man.
"Arrrrgh!"
Thud!
"Yes!" Ron landed right on top of Lucius Malfoy's body. "Stupefy!"
Then, a few more, Crucio and Stupefy went off to ensure the man was thoroughly subdued. But when he looked behind, he noticed Madam Bones was hit in all that chaos and was bleeding from her lips and shoulder.
God damn it! Even a top Auror has a limit. Ron clenched his teeth and trusted in his luck to make a run for it. Only two more enemies were left anyway.
"Confundus!" Ron first hit one of them with a confusing charm. "Stupefy!"
Thud!
That sealed the deal, and Madam Bones dealt with the last one by then. But right after that, she fell to her knees, bleeding from her shoulder. She tried to give herself some first aid and stop the blood, but the weak feeling persisted.
"W-Wand… their wand."
Ron quickly handed her Lucius' wand. "Here!"
She masterfully used it and did some unknown magic that probably alerted the Ministry. But after that, she lost her strength and began falling back, only to find Ron catching her and making her lean her back against his chest, sitting between his legs.
She looks even hotter after a battle. Ron looked at her face and, honestly, felt flustered. What a strange beauty… I never knew this was also my type.
"You should become an Auror, Mr. Weasley," Madam Bones said, showing a very rare hint of a smile with faint blush. "You fought better than the best of Aurors I know… without knowing half the spells we do."
Ron immediately remembered his father asking him what he wanted to do in life. "Can I serve with you then?"
She nodded softly. "You will work under me."
Under you? Ron heard that and couldn't help but feel a flinch in his loins. I won't mind, honestly.
"I think I just might…"
Flash!
Pop!
Woosh!
"Madam Bones!"
"Quick, capture the criminals!"
"Set a perimeter!"
Just as they were speaking, a dozen Aurors arrived and took over the battle scene. Moody followed behind and arrived after them.
"C-Check Mr. Weasley first," Madam Bones ordered while still resting in Ron's arms. "His face is still bleeding."
What an awesome lady! Ron silently admired her professionalism. She prioritized him despite being injured worse than he was. Our secret will die with me.
Moody walked over to them, his fake eye violently rotating. Eventually, he sneered at the distance. "Good job. Malfoys are done after this."
Thank me later, Harry. Ron silently rejoiced.
