Ren blinked sleepily as he slowly opened his eyes, only to find a handsome face hovering right above him. Crimson eyes, bright like lava, watched him with a soft smile, close enough that Ren's first instinct was to reach up and touch them.
"So pretty," he mumbled, still half-asleep.
A low chuckle vibrated in his ear, and Kade's pleasant voice responded, "I'm glad."
Ren blinked several times, trying to shake off the last drowsy threads of sleep. "Ah… are we home?"
Home... Kade's lips quirked up as he nodded. "Yeah, we are."
With one swift motion, Kade pulled the comforter off Ren. When Ren was about to stand on his feet, Kade leaned down and, without warning, lifted him up. Before Ren could even fully react, he was cradled securely in a princess carry.
"Hey! I can walk on my own."
Ren protested against the princess carry. Nonetheless, Kade chuckled in response.
