Kade stood in front of his house, his brows furrowed in deep concentration. If his subordinates saw him like this, they would undoubtedly assume the Marshal was deep in thought about some grave issue.
The soldiers passing by certainly did. One soldier wanted to greet the Marshal, but his friend hastily pulled him away.
"Don't disturb the Marshal. But... is there a serious problem at the border?"
"I don't know. I hope the Marshal can solve it as soon as possible."
The two voices faded into the distance. They weren't wrong, exactly. Their respected Marshal was indeed preoccupied with a very serious matter. He looked down at the peacefully sleeping figure beside him, then at the door to his house.
Should I wake him up, or should I carry him inside?
The question was harder to answer than any battle strategy or academy test. After hesitating for a moment, Kade reached out to shake the sleeping beauty gently.
