Vinn roused to consciousness when she heard voices about her. Her eyes were still shut, but her brain had snapped awake much to her dismay.

She would very much like to continue to live in blissful oblivion if that was what it took to not process the details of the horrible events that had happened.

Oblivion was bliss.

"It's just a connection spell," Marenda's voice snapped impatiently, "she would be fine. What I am truly worried about is that dragon that won't stop hovering around the boy. Does it really intend to bond with Xander Lenklock?"

"The Taramas' have vowed there would be hell to pay if the North claims Canine." Surprisingly, it was the voice of Malone Stormward. "Forget about the boy's reluctance to take the bond, Canine doesn't deem to be interested in being elsewhere."

Marenda huffed. "It is just a dragon, what is so good about it."
