As they stepped inside, it felt like entering the heart of the sea. Linden instantly clung to her, but Seraphina reassured him, "It's okay, you won't suffocate."

She wanted to tell him it was all artificial but decided not to diminish his experience.

The huge whales and soft octopuses they saw had probably been extinct for years, unknown to the lower classes who were not told such truths. The upper echelons kept most of the real knowledge to themselves, but Seraphina thought that such ignorance hardly affected daily life.

They passed through a jellyfish corridor, saw turtles, and clownfish among the corals. She wondered what the beastmen schools taught but guessed they wouldn't have access to such activities.

What was the point of schooling if it was to receive half-truths filtered by the "upper layers"? She pondered if it was worth knowing those filtered truths at all.
