ตอน 91: 91. Go With The Flow

T/N: Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to apologize for the recent delay in uploading chapters. Unfortunately, I had a little accident - slipped in the shower and hit my head pretty hard. It knocked me out of commission for a few days, but I'm happy to report that I'm feeling much better now.

I want you to know that I'm fully committed to this project and to providing you with regular updates. Your support means the world to me, and I'm eager to get back on track.

Thank you for your understanding, and I promise to make it up to you with consistent updates moving forward.

Take care,

"Ah!"

A green light bloomed, and Tina's screams pierced through the air. Newt's eyes widened as the lightning-thick green bolt struck in an instant.

"Can we sit down and have a chat?" Aurelius asked calmly.

Tina was stunned as a seemingly inconspicuous mosquito fluttered down in front of her eyes.

"Sorry about the mosquitoes in the hotel. I hate them," Aurelius said with a bright smile as he pulled Tina up. "Ms. Goldstein, you should toughen up. How can an Auror be afraid of mosquitoes?"

Newt let out a sigh of relief, grateful that Aurelius's words saved him from being suffocated.

"Do you use the Killing Curse to get rid of mosquitoes at home?"

Tina trembled, realizing that the killing curse was right before her eyes. It was no more than three or four inches away. Any slight deviation, and she would be the one to die.

The Killing Curse was a perfect technique for killing, except for its lack of precision. It could easily take a life, even accidentally.

So close, and the mosquitoes were so small. Wasn't that terrifying?

"You...you madman!" Tina trembled with fear.

Aurelius was quite pleased with the effect.

Tina had an overwhelming sense of justice, but her definition of justice wasn't always accurate. Occasionally, she would do things that she believed to be right but ended up being annoying.

Hoping to convince her? No, Aurelius never liked showing off. Tina wasn't someone he deemed worthy of wasting his breath on.

So, it was better to shock her.

It seemed to be working, as Tina was now much more submissive.

"Mr. Dumbledore, please don't do this again. It's very dangerous," Newt said, rubbing his head. He was genuinely terrified a moment ago.

"Mosquitoes are so bothersome," Aurelius insincerely explained as he sat back down on the sofa. "Mr. Grindelwald was quite polite, and I can't say the same about you. At least Grindelwald had the decency to send a greeting card, but you...you tore my apartment."

"We saw the scene with the Killing Curse, and we were worried for your safety..." Newt quickly tried to explain.

Aurelius raised his hand. "That's why I didn't hold it against you. And, Mr. Scamander, thank Dumbledore for your concern, but I don't need anyone to protect me."

Newt opened his mouth to respond, but the vivid image of the lethal Killing Curse halted his words. He realized that his current strength was only on par with an elite Auror like Tina.

In summary, Newt felt that he wouldn't have been able to stop the Killing Curse earlier.

So here's the question: Who is protecting whom when the bodyguard is less skilled in combat than the person being protected? However, considering that this task was assigned by Dumbledore, Newt believed that Dumbledore must know his nephew and must have a purpose in allowing him to come. He had smuggled himself to France and spent fifty galleons. Should he return in such a dejected manner?

"No, Mr. Dumbledore, please listen to me. I don't understand why Professor Dumbledore asked me to protect you. I am neither an Auror nor a powerful wizard like him, but I believe that Professor must have a purpose in requesting my presence," Newt spoke quickly. Whenever this introverted, freckled man was anxious, he tended to say a lot. "He is your uncle. You should trust that he would not do you harm."

These words left Aurelius speechless. Yes, he didn't want to harm Aurelius, but he feared that he might harm others. However, Aurelius couldn't express this yet. Was it possible that he wanted to tell Newt: "My uncle is simply afraid that I, as the Obscurus, will destroy Paris, so he asked you to guard against me?" He couldn't even reveal that he had complete control over the Obscurus. The secret would stay locked away inside him.

In truth, Aurelius couldn't reveal to Newt and Tina that he was an Obscurus. It had been less than a year since the incident in New York, and it could only lead to trouble. He could confide in Dumbledore because his last name was Dumbledore. Albus Dumbledore wouldn't divulge this secret to others because if it were revealed that Aurelius was responsible for the previous incident in New York, Aurelius could walk away. However, Albus Dumbledore, being Aurelius' uncle, bore the burden of responsibility.

The Dumbledore family couldn't support such a significant secret. Therefore, even if Dumbledore knew that Aurelius was behind the incident in New York, he could only reluctantly allow his former lover, Grindelwald, to take the blame. In any case, Grindelwald had many other things to answer for, so he didn't concern himself with one or two additional accusations.

A few days ago, thieves had targeted a house in their hiding place, and Grindelwald was wrongfully accused. Since Grindelwald had become active, the crime detection rate of the Ministry of Magic in various European countries has drastically increased. If the culprit couldn't be found, blame would be assigned to someone else.

Observing Newt's sincerity, Aurelius tapped his head with his fingers. "Alright, Mr. Scamander, if you insist. But please don't disturb me." This was an unspoken agreement to cooperate with Newt. One main reason was that Aurelius felt like he owed Newt a favor. The Steen National Bank was still looking for that stash of gold. Aurelius believed it was only fair to show Newt some gratitude, even if he wasn't aware of it.

Of course, there was no need to rush things. Another reason was that Aurelius had just seen the small card Dumbledore had given him in Newt's memory. Due to the effect of the Fidelius Charm, even Legilimency could not see the address above. However, Aurelius knew the plot of the movie he had watched in his previous life, and he discovered that it was Flamel's safe house. He is currently searching for Nicolas Flamel!

There is very little information available regarding ancient curses like the Blood Curse, specifically regarding the original method of casting the spell. Only individuals like Nicolas, who is considerably old, might have any knowledge about it.

If one wishes to study blood curses, understanding the original method of casting spells is unquestionably crucial.

Initially, Aurelius considered asking Dumbledore, but it was evident that such a request would require a significant favor. Unfortunately, acquiring a favor from Dumbledore is not an easy task. Now, if the Aurelius follows Newt and happens to meet Nicolas Flamel, it will undoubtedly be a coincidence - nothing more.
