Gao Rong clutched the token to his chest, and embarrassingly, seemed to be trying not to cry. "A Jade Token…I actually got one…" 

Bing Hei caught up to me at about that time. For a while, he just beat on my chest making comically exaggerated angry noises. He wasn't putting any strength into it, so I assumed he was fooling around. "How do you, who by your own admission reads people like Senyu Quan reads maps, find people like him?! I did eventually hear about that little Lo Kien guy." 

"Hey, I'm surprised too. Just because I'm happy Gao Rong turned out to have that much in him doesn't mean I saw it coming. Though I have to admit, I'd been toying with the idea of mentoring him just like Lo Kien, and I think I've gone beyond just toying with it now that he's pulled off what he has."
