บท 3: Chapter 3: The old houses

"Principal, I still need to deal with family matters," Cole said before bidding farewell. He had no interest in arguing with the old bat anymore. Black needed him.

"Go back to school when you have the time. I still remember your favorite sweets," Dumbledore replied softly, blinking.

"Must," Cole promised, though the thought of the old bat's snacks made him shudder. Were those things acceptable to ordinary people?

Turning away, Cole left, passing through the hall to a row of fireplaces, where he saw the Malfoys also queuing up.

Lucius and Narcissa approached. Cole looked at Lucius's smooth platinum hair and even suspected that a fly could slip on it.

"Cole, you're back. Congratulations are in order. The Black family still has you," Lucius greeted.

Looking at Lucius and his cousin Narcissa, Cole smiled. "Lucius, I heard your argument earlier. The Imperius Curse is quite the magical spell."

Malfoy blushed slightly at Cole's teasing. Who didn't know that these purebloods followed the mysterious man for profit and the Imperius Curse? It was a ridiculous spell.

"If purebloods like them could be easily controlled by the Imperius Curse, there would be no need for the family to exist. Some things can be said openly or done secretly."

"I heard your son was born. Congratulations, Lucius."

"You're welcome to come to the manor as a guest. The Malfoy family will always be friends of the Black family," Lucius replied, smiling at the mention of his son. Surviving the ordeal and being with his wife was all he wanted.

"Cole, how could you kick Sirius out of the Black family? He's your brother," Narcissa interjected, looking unhappy.

"Narcissa, you won't forget what they did to me at Hogwarts, right? Why should I save him?" Cole retorted.

Lucius looked embarrassed, his aristocratic demeanor faltering. He was only a few years older than Sirius and had witnessed what happened at the school.

"The Black family will regain its glory under my leadership. As for those insignificant people, I have no problem with it if the Malfoys are willing to take care of it," Cole declared.

Upon hearing Cole's words, Lucius quickly pulled Narcissa away, sprinkled a handful of Floo powder, and green flames rose in the fireplace. They had to leave; the Malfoy family's affairs were not yet settled.

Cole grabbed a handful of Floo powder and said to himself, "Black Manor."

Green flames rose, and traces of space flashed before Cole's eyes as he was transported outside the Black family's manor. Access to the Black old house was restricted to those with the mark of the Black family, like Cole.

Standing outside the manor, Cole was curious. He wasn't supposed to enter directly; someone had sealed off the Black Manor, forcing him to wait outside.

"Kreacher, come out," Cole called, and the door slowly opened. A green elf trotted over and knelt down before him.

"Kreacher has met the master. Master Cole, you are back," the elf said, shaking slightly.

"Get up. Did you block the manor?" Cole asked.

"Master Cole, please forgive Kreacher. It was the old master who ordered Kreacher to do so," the elf replied.

"Okay, let's go in and talk," Cole said, leading the way. Kreacher followed obediently, not daring to cross him.

Inside the manor, Cole observed the mess. The place had served as the meeting place of the Order of the Phoenix under Sirius's management, allowing anyone from the Black family to enter.

Cole glanced at the Black family tree on the wall, representing the direct bloodline for thousands of years. His name was there, alongside his second brother Regulus's, with a hole burned next to Sirius's name.

Before Cole could proceed upstairs, an angry shout halted him.

"Dirty bastard, desecrating the ancestral home of my Black family!"

"You're such a traitor! Who will you bring today, a werewolf? A Mudblood?"

Cole saw the portrait of Walburga Black, his and Sirius's mother, hurling insults.

"Oh, look who's back! Coward Black returns, tarnishing the noble blood of the family."

Cole rolled his eyes, noting the irony. "Yes, I'm back, mother. If I die outside, the Black family will be severed. My eldest brother is already in Azkaban."

Walburga continued to curse, wishing for Cole's demise. It made him wonder if all his relatives were defective.

"You're really cold-blooded. If not for your coldness, they wouldn't have bullied me."

"You deserve it, you cowardly traitor! You disgrace the Black family. Why didn't I drown you in milk at birth?"

Cole was speechless at his mother's cruelty. "The Black family will flourish under my guidance," he declared before covering the portrait, silencing the curses.

Kreacher remained silent, aware that Cole was now the sole decision-maker in the Black family.

"Clean up the house and seal it with magic. No one enters without permission," Cole ordered as he ascended to his room.

Ignoring the cold stares from the portraits of his ancestors, Cole realized he was no longer considered part of the Black family in their eyes.
