บท 17: A CCTV?
"Where did you come from?"
I was taken aback by his sudden speech. I stood up in a panic while he just laughed.
"You? What are you doing in my house and how did you get in?"
"I used to be a robber, so it was easy to break into your house."
"Should I take it as a joke?"
He slowly approached me and here I was, slowly backing away until I hit the table, so I had no escape, and he caught up with me.
I closed my eyes and waited for what he would do next.
He flicked my forehead and then spoke. "Of course, you should take that as a joke, why waste my handsome face on cheap things?"
I stomped his foot so hard that he screamed in pain.
"Get out of my house."
"Wait, I'm hungry, won't you feed me?"
I was amazed because of the thickness of his face. I could not believe that someone with the same thickness of his face lived in this world.
"Go away!"
"Maybe you don't know how to cook, that's why you're rejecting me right now."
Ugh!
"What now? It's not your problem anymore, so leave."
He just shrugged his shoulders and ransacked my kitchen. After a while, I heard utensils and other equipment I had in the kitchen, so I went to him immediately.
I saw him cooking, so I raised my eyebrows at what he was doing.
"Where did you get those?"
"I probably bought it, because I saw that your kitchen was empty, even the refrigerator was only filled with water. Maybe that's why you're losing weight, because you're a woman and you don't know how to cook."
"Coming from a man who is so proud that he knows how to cook,"
I said sarcastically.
He sighed and came closer to me, held my shoulder, took me to the table, and sat down.
"I would do a better job of cooking if you were just here, sitting and facing the table, and waiting for me than you being there, and you were just complaining, asking and nagging, like a demanding wife to listen to."
What the?
I was about to oppose him when he turned his back on me and continued what he was doing. After a while, the kitchen smelled nice, which made my stomach grumble.
Antonio put the food on the table, and it smelled so nice that I could not help but finish it.
"Whoa!"
"I told you," he proudly smiled.
I volunteered to do the dishes since he was the one who cooked. After finishing the dishes, I went back to the table and saw that Antonio was still there.
"Before you send me out again, sit here," he ordered me to sit in front of him.
He looked so serious so I complied.
After I sat down, he didn't beat around the bush and went straight directly to the point.
"Uncle Luis and I found out that there is CCTV in the area where your grandfather had an accident, so we are trying to retrieve it, but we still have no lead as to who deleted it. As of the moment, we are still finding out who is assigned to guard the CCTV around that time or, more likely, that the person who bumped into your grandfather ordered it erased."
"How is that even possible?"
The events almost don't sink into my brain, I only see them in TV shows. I never thought I would experience them in my life.
"Uncle Luis and I have confirmed our suspicion that a powerful person is behind all of this. Why was he able to make the evidence disappear like a bubble? We will not give up. No one will give up Kaesu."
I looked into his eyes because of his words, as if his words were calming me down.
I shook my head to let that idea out of my head.
"Are you okay?" Antonio asked worriedly while holding my head to prevent me from shaking it again, so I sighed.
"I won't give up, but I don't know how to carry them either. I thought I could, but it's too heavy."
"We're here, I'm here."
Why are you like that, Antonio? Why are you willing to sacrifice everything for me? Why do you seem like you can catch the bullet for me? Is everything you say really intentional or am I just giving a different reason for this?
