Upon reaching their agreement, the families had decided to hold the wedding ceremony in two months time. Zachary Croft was elated. He couldn't believe that the girl of his dreams would become his wife in a couple of months. However, no matter how he looked at her, he knew she wasn't entirely happy with the whole arrangement. He had tried to talk to her about it but ever since their conversation at the airport, she didn't talk much to him except to allow her father to arrange everything for her. Alexandra simply told him that she would abide by her father's decision and told him not to worry about it when Zachary Croft expressed his concern for her lack of enthusiasm.
Zachary Croft felt that Alexandra seemed to hide something from him and decided to look deeper. His investigation revealed that apart from her work colleagues, Alexandra didn't have any other friends and would return home everyday after work. She took vacations alone, and would only be accompanied by her bodyguard.
"Bodyguard..." A thought came to mind and Zachary Croft couldn't help but frowned.
Ever since she got engaged, Alexandra and Benjamin maintained their distance. The only relationship they had now was between an employer and employee. No matter how unhappy she was with the whole thing, Alexandra was much aware of her current status as Zachary Croft's fiancèe. Furthermore, the two things she valued most in a relationship were trust and fidelity.
Benjamin was also aware and respected her decision. In fact, he was glad that she had taken this decision and didn't succumb to desires. As expected of the woman he loved. As much as he was disappointed for not being able to hold her, he was also glad at the same time.
Today was Sunday, which was also his off day. Benjamin knew today Zachary Croft would take Alexandra for her wedding dress fitting and therefore he had decided to ignore this dreadful day and sleep in. Unfortunate, Benjamin was woken up with a loud knocking on his door.
"Uncle Tim! Today is my off day, leave me alone, please!" He said loudly so his butler could hear.
"Your Highness, it's an emergency!!" Butler Tim's voice sounded urgent outside the door.
Benjamin immediately was alerted and jumped out of bed. When the door was opened, Butler Tim's face revealed teary eyes and he was in a state of shaking from fear.
"Why, what happened??!" Benjamin asked.
"It's...your brother...Your Highness..he.." Butler Tim couldn't go on as he had started crying profusely.
"Get a hold of yourself. Uncle Tim, tell me please. What happened to Adrian???" Benjamin implored patiently. His heart trembled and he didn't have a good feeling about this.
Uncle Tim took a deep breath and blurted out all at once. "Your Highness, Prince Adrian was reported to have been involved in an accident this morning. He is currently in the hospital and undergoing a surgery as we speak. His condition is unknown at the moment. Your father has requested that you returned immediately without delay. I have made arrangements and the plane is waiting for you. We can depart once you are ready."
"Give me 10 minutes. Get the car ready." Benjamin instructed Butler Tim and ran straight to his room to get dressed. No matter how worried he was, he needed to remain calm. He took a few deep breaths and got dressed.
On the way to the airport, he managed to send a text to Alexandra informing her of a family emergency and that he needed to take some time off from work. Alexandra didn't send any reply. He guessed she must be busy with her wedding dress. He sighed and immediately retracted his thoughts back to Aaron. He hoped he would be fine and nothing major happened to him.
Alexandra was trying her third wedding dress. She looked at the designs picked by Zachary Croft and couldn't help but felt impressed. This man definitely had a good taste. He had insisted to pick some for her to try on and left the ultimate choice to her. At first she was sceptical but as she went through the first and second dress, moving on to her third, she couldn't find any fault at all. All his choices so far had looked good on her.
At the end of the session, Alexandra had picked a simple princess cut organza wedding dress with a train. Zachary Croft smiled as she appeared at the waiting area. Although he had helped to pick the dresses, he didn't know which one was picked by her. It would remain a surprise until their wedding day.
"I've picked the one I like." She said with a pretty smile on her lips. The lips he had wanted to kiss on numerous occasion but each time he wanted to, she had either turned her face and let him kiss her cheeks or she would just give him a quick peck on the lips instead.
"Ok, let's go then. I've chosen mine too. Our parents are waiting for us at home for dinner." Zachary Croft said and held her hand.
When she reached home, it was already late. She immediately washed up and prepared to go to bed. She wondered what Benjamin's doing. She missed his presence suddenly. She took her phone and realized there was a message from him. She read it and couldn't help but frown.
"Family emergency? What could it be?" Alexandra wondered aloud. Afraid to disturb him with a call, Alexandra decided to send a text instead. She immediately sent a message asking if everything is fine and if he needs any help. However, after a few minutes, there was no reply from him.
"This is so unlike him. He usually would reply almost at once. What's going on?" Alexandra was getting anxious.
Eventually, she tried calling him but the call couldn't be connected. By the time she tried calling for the umpteenth time with the same result, Alexandra was already on her feet and was pacing nervously in the room. Her numerous text messages were unread and her calls were not connected. She didn't know how else to reach him. Fear and worry enveloped her already delicate heart. She really hoped nothing serious had happened to Benjamin.
