He wasn't sure what worried him more, his mother's overwhelming acceptance of Grace or the fact that Grace might feel pressured by all of this.
As he could tell that his mother was already envisioning wedding bells, and Jace wasn't sure if Grace was ready for that leap… yet.
After a few minutes, Jace stood, unable to resist the curiosity gnawing at him. "I'll be right back, buddy," he said and ruffled Charles's hair before heading down the hall.
As he approached his mother's room, he slowed his pace, intending to knock. But the soft murmur of voices stopped him in his tracks. He hovered near the doorway, not wanting to eavesdrop but was also unable to turn away.
"You're special to him, Grace. I can see it in the way he looks at you, the way he talks about you," Rose was saying. "But more than that, you've become an integral part of Charles's life, he adores you so much."
