Rose's brow furrowed in confusion on hearing that. "You sound as if I know the girl. Who is she? Have I met her before?"
Trent threw a challenging look in Jace's direction and saw that his face was as dark as the bottom of a charred pot. He made sure his gaze locked with Jace's before turning back to his aunt.
Trent straightened up, his demeanor unwavering as he addressed Rose.
"The woman I love is Grace, Charles's nanny."
The room fell silent. Rose's eyes widened in shock. "Grace? The nanny?"
Jace's face turned an even darker shade, and he stepped forward, his fists tightening further.
Even Richard, who had been seemingly engrossed in his magazine, glanced up sharply, his interest piqued despite his outward nonchalance.
"Yes, Aunt," Trent confirmed, his gaze never leaving Jace's. "Grace is the one I want to be with."
