Xiaomei looked at Xiaoquan with gratitude and nodded slowly, knowing that Xiaoquan was doing this for her. Over the next few days, Xiaoquan stayed with Xiaomei. During the day, they kept company with Xiaobao, and at night, after Xiaobao fell asleep, they would return to the inn in town for accommodations, choosing not to stay at Xiaobao's house to avoid disapproval and disrespect from others.
When Xiaobao had recovered, Tie Muchun, Xiaoquan and Xiaomei returned to Lijiang together with him in tow. Upon her arrival, Xiaomei heard villagers saying a young man had taken Wan Qing away. The man seemed to be wealthy. Xiaomei was taken aback, feeling as though Wan Qing's departure felt like a thing of the past. Xiaomei realised that she no longer had any feelings for her.
With a self-mocking smile, Xiaomei put the matter out of her mind. Wan Qing, no longer having any standing in her life, was no longer her concern.
