Author's Note: That's all for today (a bonus chapter to celebrate my return).
================================
Hanju's POV
"Damn it..." I swore, gritting my teeth on the ground.
"That's it, we've finished your 'punishment'," Hansu declared with a gentle smile that did not match his particularly imposing physique for his age.
It had been an hour since I fought him and naturally, I couldn't win.
"Monster," I said, shooting him a black look.
"Watch your language, boy," he said with his usual smile.
Mr. Kim had already left the premises after I returned from the locker room, so I couldn't get any help to stop this massacre.
"Tell me, Mr. Hansu, do you know someone who can train me in Kali Arnis?" I asked, eager to improve my weapons mastery.
Unfortunately, in response to my question, I received a kick.
I could have dodged it, but if Hansu Seong wanted me not to dodge, then I couldn't, so I preferred to avoid upsetting him more than he already was.
"You recently took a life but you want to train in using weapons?" he asked me in a calm voice.
Although the tone of his voice was calm, I could sense he was upset, a skill I had acquired after spending a lot of time with him.
"I already explained to you that Yun Cho's death was a special case. Unfortunately, I will soon face a troublesome opponent and I'm not afraid to say that he is possibly as strong as you, Master," I said seriously.
I have confidence in my current skills, but my recent fight with Johan and my punishment with Hansu showed me that I still have a long way to go.
Hansu has already shown me that my Synchro mode with the AI is far from perfect.
This peculiarity of the AI shows me the weak point of the opponent's style, but those experienced like Hansu are perfectly aware of their flaw, so they have turned this flaw into a deadly trap.
And those like Johan Seong can use the Synchro mode with the AI to literally improve themselves during the fight.
"In the end, the Synchro mode is only usable against ordinarily strong people, but against experienced or talented people, I risk a lot by using it," I mentally concluded, gritting my teeth in the face of this cruel reality.
After listening to my words, Hansu sighed and looked at me with an inscrutable gaze.
"I know a friend who can help you find a good master, but he will surely want to integrate you into the army, so you will have to convince him yourself," he said, writing down a phone number and an address for me.
"Go see him if you're really sure you can avoid being recruited by him. And a little advice," Hansu said, taking on a deadly serious facial expression.
"Don't approach his daughter if you value your life," he said without mincing words.
At first, I didn't understand Hansu's words, but when I read the name written above the phone number he gave me, I understood what I was getting into.
"The bastard sent me to that madman," I mentally cursed before receiving a blow.
"WHY THAT BLOW?" I yelled because of the sudden hit during my reflection, but unfortunately it wasn't a good idea since I received another one.
"I don't know, I just felt like you were insulting me," Hansu replied, shrugging his shoulders.
...
Author's POV (after the "punishment" training)
"Are you okay, boss?" a random thug asked, whose name Hanju hadn't remembered.
"Yes, I'm fine, don't worry about my current physical state. And the others?" Hanju asked, looking towards one of the thugs who was waiting for him.
He had forbidden the members of his gang from following him to Hansu's but to wait outside the building.
"Everything went as planned, Daniel and Jeongdu personally took care of the crews in the south of the Gangbuk district, but they didn't touch West Gangbuk High School," he hastened to explain.
"Excellent, they unified all the districts," Hanju thought, satisfied.
"Currently, Jaeha and Seo Kang must know their current task," he thought mentally.
Hanju knew the potential of these two characters and some members of their crew, which is why he had entrusted them with the task of convincing their future master to take them as students.
"Show me the way to Daniel," Hanju urged.
Although he was exhausted from Hansu's punishment, he knew he had to maintain loyalty within his crew.
"I must also think about how to handle Gun if he shows up without talking about my crew's main activity," Hanju thought, sighing in the face of these future struggles.
After contacting Daniel, he and Hanju finally went to the base of Gangbuk North High School.
"Is everyone here?" Hanju asked, looking at the gathered members of his crew.
"Yes, all members of Gangbuk North High School are here, but I didn't invite those from the high schools we annexed today," Daniel informed calmly with a slight smile.
"Excellent, I'm happy that you were able to unify the districts so quickly. And for West Gangbuk, don't worry about that," Hanju explained nonchalantly.
"Anyone got a light?" Hanju asked, placing a cigarette on his lips.
Daniel used a lighter to light it.
"I should maybe buy myself a cigar and stop using this stuff," he thought.
"I have a question, boss," Seonwoo Ha asked, slightly hesitant.
"Go ahead, express yourself, this isn't a dictatorship here, we're not in the North, hahaha... or partially?" Hanju said, laughing at his own joke which unfortunately didn't seem to amuse the others.
"I wanted to know what your plans are for the future," he asked seriously.
After those words, all the leaders present at this meeting seemed intrigued by Hanju's future response.
"Wasn't it obvious?" Hanju asked, frowning at Seonwoo Ha's question, who was number 8 of Gangbuk North.
"Sorry, but I don't think I was informed of your future projects," Seonwoo Ha explained.
"I see, I must have forgotten to mention it to you or I overestimated your intelligence," Hanju said, scratching his head a bit embarrassed.
"To put it simply, we will have to conquer more territories," Hanju declared with a smile as the smoke from the cigarette spread.
"Conquer??" Daniel said, perplexed by Hanju's words.
"Exactly, I think the Gangbuk district is too small for me and you, right?" Hanju asked, looking each of his leaders in the eye.
"So which district of Seoul are we going to attack?" Taeho Cheon asked, seeming overexcited.
"No, not Seoul, there are too many hidden dragons here. I'll conquer Seoul later, not now," Hanju explained, shrugging nonchalantly.
Hanju's response left the members of his crew a bit surprised.
"You mean there are individuals more dangerous than Johan Seong?" Euijin Kyung asked, who had been calm since the start of the meeting.
"Indeed, which is why for now I want to increase our strength, our numbers, but also our influence so we can face them later," Hanju calmly told Euijin Kyung.
"What will our target be then?" Daniel asked.
"I was thinking of attacking Ansan to start. I'll go there with Sigyeong Ryu, Cheonhak Yang and Eunhyeong Ji," Hanju said calmly.
Everyone in the room frowned at Hanju's words.
"Is there a problem?" he asked, even though he knew very well why there was such a reaction.
"It's just that Cheonhak Yang is number 20," Daniel explained in a low voice to Hanju.
"Don't worry, he has more than enough potential to be among the best here," Hanju stated confidently.
He knew that Cheonhak Yang had been able to undergo two consecutive awakenings just because his sister's life was at stake, pushing his stats towards UR and LR which is as strong as the current number 7, Taeho Cheon.
"I'll have to stage a little play to push him to awaken twice, but if it succeeds, I'll have a non-negligible element," Hanju thought with a cunning smile that only made the people around more confused.
