บท 7: Escape [2]

Adele used Location Exchange to overcome the crisis.

Action is faster than thinking.

"Location."

The location was the knight's helmet.

"Exchange."

The knight split the helmet that exchanged positions with him, and Adele's body fell in the air.

Adele gathered the momentum and slammed the dagger into the knight's throat.

hook-.

"Ouch… … !"

When the dagger pierced the knight's neck, the knight died instantly and fell to the ground.

Without a chance to check him, he rolled his head while floating in the air.

'I'm in danger too.' Adele thought as he saw a record of another knight going for his neck, however at last movement before the sword could touch him, he used [Exchange Location 'I'] Again and disappeared.

As Adele vanished from sight, the knight's blade cleaved through empty air, slicing nothing but the lingering echo of Adele's presence. The sudden disappearance left the knight momentarily bewildered, his eyes darting around the dense forest in search of his elusive prey.

Isaac, observing from a distance, clenched his fists in frustration. Adele's cunning tactics had thrown their pursuit into disarray, and the forest seemed to conspire against them at every turn.

"We cannot let him escape!" Isaac barked, his voice echoing through the trees.

The remaining knights nodded in agreement, their determination undeterred by the setbacks they faced. They pressed forward, navigating the treacherous terrain with grim determination, their eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement.

Meanwhile, Adele moved swiftly through the undergrowth, his breaths coming in ragged gasps as he sought to put distance between himself and his pursuers. The forest enveloped him in its embrace, its ancient trees whispering secrets of times long past.

As he ran, Adele's mind raced with thoughts of survival. He knew he couldn't outrun the knights forever, but perhaps he could outsmart them.

-Jump!

Adele jumped on a tree branch and caught his breath for moments.

'Now there are only two knights left alive, one is Knight Commander Isaac and another name which I don't know.'

At some distance away from Adele, Isaac and one of the remaining knights were standing up to the dead knight that Adele had killed earlier.

"That Basterd, he will pay for what he did," Isaac said in anger as he his dead comrade's body, the other knight nodded his head in agreement, However, his entire body was trembling.

The cause of this trembling was fear...Fear that he would be the next Adele would kill.

'H-He..really is a demon.' After all not only Adele was able to escape from his mansion he also killed four tonight like it's nothing.

Isaac who saw the knight's body was trembling with fear let out a small sigh.

He can not blame him for this fear, after all, he would also anticipate that Adele would this difficult to kill.

"John, you go back and send enforcement here," Isaac said to a knight named John.

John widened his eyes as he heard what Isaac said, turning his head toward Isaac, John tried to protest "But sir I can't just leave you here!"

"Just go, John." Isaac calmly said and John hesitated for a moment, torn between his loyalty to Isaac and his survival instincts. But ultimately, he nodded in resignation, knowing that he couldn't defy Isaac's orders.

"Understood, sir," John replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

With a final glance at Isaac and the fallen knight, John turned and disappeared into the depths of the forest, his footsteps fading into the distance.

Alone amidst the silent trees, Isaac clenched his fists in frustration, his mind swirling with thoughts of revenge and determination. Adele's defiance had sparked a fire within him, a burning desire to bring the young upstart to justice and restore order to the realm.

But even as he steeled himself for the task ahead, Isaac couldn't shake the nagging feeling of unease that gnawed at his conscience. Adele was no ordinary adversary; he was a force to be reckoned with, a cunning and resourceful foe who had already outmanoeuvred them at every turn.

But that doesn't mean that Isaac was going to lower to a child, he was a Knight commander for a reason.

-Boom!

Isaac tensed his legs and shot forward himself with great speed. The place earlier where Isaac was standing was turned into a small crater by the force of Isaac's legs.

***

'Did they leave?' No that could not happen after all I'm a demon that they want to kill.

It's been already five minutes since I've been sitting on this tree branch and for the last five minutes, I haven't sensed any knights come after me.

-Swoosh!

Look like I said this earlier, turning my head toward the sound I found a man coming towards me with

"Tsk."

Isaac, the leader of the Knights of Count Leon.

I swallowed dry saliva.

'He is not an opponent that can be dealt with in the same way as I just did with others.'

Then a terrifying pressure that came upon me suddenly made me harden on the spot, unable to even move a step.

It was Isaac's Killing Intent.

'I have to move or else I'll be dead.' I screamed inwardly.

With some difficulty, I opened my mouth and spat out the casting words.

"Location Exchange."

I immediately developed a location exchange, designated the farthest leaf as a target and moved.

The moment I moved to the branch on the other side.

-Bang!

A tremendous roar rang as if tearing the eardrums.

Is that the sound that comes from swinging a sword?

I stared at the ground while clinging to a branch.

A long, large sword slash was carved in the place where I was. The power behind was so powerful that it cut a tree in the half.

'If I had been hit by that attack, I would have been bloodied… … .'

Just imagining it was terrifying, so my body shrank.

As I swallowed my saliva and stared at the floor with a terrified gaze, Isaac flew toward me at high speed.

Literally, he leapt as if flying through the sky and swung his sword at me.

"Location Exchange!"

I hurriedly used a location exchange and escaped.

'Danm, he really going for the kill.' Well that his Isaac is.

He was not a man who would give up just because his allies had been dead.

"Whoa, whoa."

I was so surprised that my heart dropped.

Let's catch our breath… ….

As I calmed my rough breathing while supporting myself on a tree branch, I heard Issac's sneer.

"I can't help but admit that it's amazing. Not only did you subdue four knights, but you also dodged my attack."

Isaac, who started talking like that, added a.

"But it's a stupid decision to come inside this forest. To think that You would drive yourself into the forest that is said to be almost impossible to escape."

He is not wrong.

It's not easy to get outside of the Ashen forest with a young body.

Since my mana was almost exhausted, I would only be able to use the position exchange a few times now.

Still, there was a reason why I insisted on Ashen Forest.

"Is there any other way? Even if I go outside the territory, I will die anyway."

"That too."

Outside of Asen.

It was never safe there.

In the first place, the empire was ruled by six families, so it was clear that I who had demon blood running through my body would be dead.

After a short conversation, Isaac raised his sword again.

"then, die."

Having said that, Isaac flew toward me. Hurriedly I used position exchange again and ran away.

but.

I couldn't completely avoid it this time.

"Kuk!"

The sword grazed my arm right before we exchanged positions.

As the blade grazed Adele's arm, a searing pain shot through his body, but he gritted his teeth and pushed through the agony. Blood trickled down his arm, staining the forest floor beneath him as he struggled to maintain his footing on the tree branch.

Isaac's relentless pursuit left Adele with little room to manoeuvre, his options dwindling with each passing moment. The dense foliage of the Ashen Forest provided some cover, but it also hindered Adele's movements, making it difficult for him to escape his relentless adversary.

With a grim determination, Adele forced himself to focus, his mind racing as he searched for a way to turn the tide of battle in his favour. He knew he couldn't keep running forever, and sooner or later, he would have to confront Isaac head-on.

But confronting Isaac head-on was a death sentence in itself. The Knight Commander's skills were unparalleled, his swordsmanship honed through years of training and combat experience. Adele knew he stood little chance against such a formidable opponent, especially with his mana reserves running dangerously low.

But he couldn't give up. Not now, not when he had come so far. He had defied the odds time and time again, overcoming every obstacle in his path with sheer determination and cunning. He refused to let Isaac be the one to finally bring him down.
