บท 42: Prejudicial Lies

Carissa avoided locking eyes with the person standing before her, who turned out to be David. She took a nervous step backward, scanning her surroundings nervously.

David's voice cut through the tense silence. "Why are you here?" he asked, his tone curious.

Carissa offered a forced smile, attempting to divert the conversation. "Uh, happy Sunday," she replied awkwardly.

David's expression remained impassive as he pressed for an answer. Folding his arms, he arched a brow, waiting for her response.

"I was just, uh..." Carissa hesitated, scratching her temple nervously. "I just came looking for something."

"In a playground?" David's eyes narrowed as he moved closer to her. "What could my dear personal assistant be looking for in a playground?" he inquired, circling her before stopping in front of her again.

Carissa's mind raced for an explanation. "I'm looking for..." she trailed off, meeting his gaze. "Wait, why are you here?"
