Valerie was shocked. Her first wolf, Helga, had only spoken to her after her first shift, not appearing in a mirror.

Most of her kind would hear the voice of their wolf before a shift, but seeing and hearing her wolf through a mirror was strange.

"My wolf? Why are you appearing to me in a mirror? Are you not supposed to take over?"

Valerie did not have a good feeling about this, and Astrid tried to clear her worries with a good explanation.

"I can't take over yet. My powers cannot be harvested until the moon is full. That is the only time I can take control."

Valerie was still skeptical, even afraid. The wolf she was seeing in the mirror, though just the face, was completely different from the white wolf she had before.

This was a gray wolf. "You don't look like a Luna wolf, and why did you not recognize Denzel as our mate?" Valerie asked, looking puzzled.
