"Don't be ridiculous Garrick, Thane has only known of the wizarding world for less than a day," McGonagall snapped with a displeased frown.

"That may be true but it doesn't change the fact that a wand has already chosen him." Olivander insisted, standing his ground even in the face of the Professor's withering stare.

As the two elderly wizards clashed Thane racked his mind trying to figure out why Olivander believed he owned a wand. Then in the back of his mind Thane felt a slight nudge like a needy pet upset at being ignored. At first Thane thought he was just imagining it only for the feeling to intensify followed by a small electric shock that lanced up his spine

"Ow!" Thane muttered as he reached underneath into his left sleeve and unsheathed the silver dagger strapped to his arm. With his sole focus on the blade Thane realized for the first time just how well the weapon fit in his hand, with most of its weight belonging to the needle-thin blade which was deceivingly heavy. As if pleased with his appreciation the dagger in Thane's hands vibrated and became warm to the touch.

"Ah there she is," Olivander said as he stared at Thane's dagger in wonder, "I knew I sensed something extraordinary the moment you entered my shop. But never in my wildest dreams would I have hoped to lay eyes on a perfectly preserved and bonded Spell Blade."

"SpellBlade? What ridiculousness are you spouting Garrick?" McGonagall scoffed.

Oliverander grinned as he pointed at the dagger in Thane's hand, "Long ago they were an exceedingly rare form of magical focus reserved only for the most powerful and dangerous Magi. Archaeological evidence suggests that a spell blade would be used in tandem with wandless magic, however it is speculative at best."

"I see," McGonagall replied as she glanced at the blade, "But it does present a certain conundrum, Hogwarts students are not allowed to carry weapons of any kind on campus."

"Ah wrong again Professor," Olivander interjected with a wag of his finger, "Technically since a spellblade is considered as a magical focus it falls under the Right of Usage clause."

McGonagall frowned but she didn't immediately refute Olivander's claim as she turned to face Thane, "Very well then, but make no mistake you are to use your focus only as a conduit for your magic. Am I understood?"

Thane nodded and quickly returned the dagger to its sheath though he could still feel the lingering warmth in his hand.

Back at the Three Broomsticks Inn, Professor McGonagall walked Thane up to his room whose eyes were already having trouble staying open, "I suggest you get a good night's sleep, we leave early tomorrow morning for the Hogwarts Express."

Thane nodded as he stopped in front of his door and turned to face McGonagall, "I will Professor, and thank you for today I had a lot of fun."

Mcgonagall smiled before clearing her throat, "I enjoyed it as well, oh and I'll make sure all your supplies are delivered to your room at the Castle."

Thane sent the Professor one last fleeting smile before entering his room. Letting out a relieved sigh as the door closed behind him Thane threw himself onto the bed only for a sharp hiss to come from his robes as Ingrid slithered out from his robes and onto the sheets.

"Sorry, I forgot you were in there," Thane replied as he sat up and scratched the top of Ingrid's head who let out a pleased hiss in response. Once he had thoroughly apologized Thane extended his hand for Ingrid to climb up which she did, "Are you hungry?"

Ingrid hissed and lightly squeezed Thane's arm, "Well good, because all your food is with the rest of my school supplies."

Even without eyelids Thane could feel Ingrid glare at him and he could help but laugh, "Sorry, I promise I'll carry some treats on me from here on out."

Ingrid's tongue flicked out seemingly satisfied with Thane's response. Letting out another sigh Thane laid on his back and stared up at the ceiling all while recounting everything that had occurred over such a short time frame.

'Discovered I'm the last of an ancient magical people, meaning I'm not fully human. Bound myself to a magical dagger that may not be one hundred percent legal. And I can talk to animals.'

Thane had been hoping his initiation into the magical world would have been eye opening and answer the slew of questions he had thought over the years. Instead he was told to keep his cards close to his chest and not reveal anything as it could be used against him.

"I guess that means I'll have to figure it out for myself," Thane muttered as his eyes slowly started to close, "But first…sleep."

In the final moments of his consciousness Thane heard a lone flute play somewhere off in the distance. Sitting up to check if he had left the window open Thane blinked as he realized he was no longer in his room at the inn.

"Where am I?" Thane asked no one in particular as he stood up and observed his new surroundings.

"You…are home."

Thane's head whipped around as a deep baritone voice echoed from the very back of the room. The voice belonged to a man who sat upon a massive wooden throne to support his muscular frame which was on display thanks to the open silver vest the man wore. With mahogany colored skin, long wavy hair the color of oak leaves, eyes the color of silver and a handsome visage the man cut an imposing figure but all Thane could focus on were his long tapered ears.

"Oh my, he looks just like you did at that age, dear Husband. Doesn't he, Elara?"

"Indeed he does Solara, though it would be strange for his reincarnation not to share some physical similarities."

As two more voices spoke up Thane glanced to either side of the man's throne where two smaller but still grandiose seats stood. The throne on the left held a woman with fair skin, a mane of wild red hair and two piercing green eyes surrounded by a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. The woman on the right possessed a much darker complexion with flawless skin, straight black hair that washed down her back like a waterfall and dark blue eyes.

But both women were absolutely stunning dressed in flowing robes and elegant wooden diadems supported by their tapered ears.
