บท 49: The Revelation

*Adriel's POV*

I got tired of seeing Erica's extensive gemstone collection. I hadn't been standing here too long, but it seemed I had been standing for centuries.

The impatience grew in me. I had never had to wait this long, especially not for Erica to see me.

She was attentive, alert, and always, always punctual. That was one of the reasons I liked her in the first place. But here I was, standing in her parlour for more than twenty minutes with no sign of her.

Something was off.

"Shall I bring you another bottle of whiskey?"her nervous butler asked.

I wasn't even done with half of the first bottle yet, but this was the second time he asked to get me more. I stared at his long, slim face in between irritation and amusement. He was like one of those people who seemed perfectly made for their job.He had a ridiculously good posture and his slim figure seemed to blend in with the wall around him.Not too noticeable and yet so present.
