It was already one or two in the morning when Lu Yebai returned to his hilltop mansion. The servant who had stayed awake for his return approached to collect the suit from his hands.
"How did she fare today?"
Lu Yebai asked as he removed his tie. He carried a faint scent of alcohol, but his eyes were lucid, no trace of drunkenness in sight.
The servant respectfully replied: "Miss Xixi went upstairs to sleep after dinner, she's been quiet the whole day."
"At least she knows her place." Lu Yebai chuckled lightly, his thoughts unknown. He passed the tie to the servant and went up the stairs.
Watching Lu Yebai ascend the stairs, the servant hung his suit on the rack. His silhouette, under the dim light, cast a sharp shadow. His profile, imbued with an icy arrogance, seemed somehow cruel in the darkness.
The servant averted his gaze, laying a hand over his heart as though startled by Lu Yebai. He sighed quietly.
