He suppressed the fury brewing inside him.

The girl, trembling and stumbling over her words, managed to say, "A... about half an hour..."

"What!" Mark's eyes widened in anger. "She's been locked in there for half an hour, and you didn't think to inform me?" He raised his hand, almost striking her.

The girl lowered her head, eyes closed, bracing for the blow that never came. When she dared to look up, she saw that Mark's hand had lowered, though his face still bore the traces of his anger.

"Move aside!" he barked impatiently, then charged forward, breaking the door open with a single push.

Instead of rushing in, he signaled to the girl named Lynn. "You, go in, wrap her in a towel, and bring her out."

Lynn bowed deeply. "Yes, sir." She hurried into the bathroom, her heart pounding.

To her shock, Avery Miller was completely submerged in the bathwater.
