25.5% Apocalypse: I Have a Space with Billions of Resources / Chapter 38: Lawless Children

บท 38: Lawless Children

In the span of just a minute, the kids who were at the rear of the car had climbed onto the roof and were now looking triumphantly at Alice.

Alice turned her gaze towards the kids on the roof, her dangerous eyes narrowing as she sternly commanded, "Get down!"

"We're not coming down! If you're so capable, come up here!" a boy provocatively taunted, sticking out his butt and making mocking sounds, "Lalala, you can't reach us!"

Several kids rushed over to try to knock Alice down from the car roof. In a swift move, Alice dodged them and intentionally fell on the one in the front.

"Bang, bang, bang~" The kids fell heavily to the ground, crying out in pain.

Seeing this, the parents in the crowd couldn't sit still. They rushed over, surrounding Alice, who had just come down from the roof.

"What gives you the right to throw my child? If my child is injured or disabled because of you, are you going to take responsibility? Climbing on your car is not a big deal anyway."

Alice looked at them as if she were watching a bunch of clownish actors, a mocking smirk playing on her lips. "

Alice was about to open the car door and sit inside when the enraged parents raised their fists and came to attack her.

Alice's eyes flashed with a cold murderous intent as she swung the knife. Three men were struck, and they cried out in pain, "Ah!"

The people behind them seemed frozen, their fierce and menacing aura suddenly weakened. They dared not make eye contact with Alice. The knife in Alice's hand still dripped with blood as she surveyed them, "Now, still want to ask me for compensation?"

Upon witnessing Alice's actions, other private car owners immediately took out kitchen knives from their trunks. They shouted at the kids on top of the car, "See what happened to them? Don't force me to take action."

Now that Alice had set an example, others followed suit.

Alice paid no attention to the commotion outside, calmly got into her car, drew the curtains closed, and moved the car forward a bit. After a while, the intercom rang, and Blanche's voice came through, "Alice, I'll wait for you down there. Open the door for me."

Alice responded, "Okay." Two minutes later, there was a knocking on the door. Alice opened the curtain and saw Blanche before opening the car door. "What do you want to eat for lunch today?" Alice asked.

Since there was no cellphone signal, Alice handed each of them a walkie-talkie for easy communication. Blanche told them to wait a bit through the walkie-talkie; she would bring them food later.

Alice set up a small table with fish-flavored shredded pork, braised lion's head meatballs, and cola chicken wings. She filled three lunch boxes with the food, then opened the car door and walked out. She headed towards the two cars at the back, delivering food, snacks, and entertainment like books and Rubik's cubes to Atticus and Arnold.

After finishing the deliveries, Alice returned to her own car and started lunch with Blanche. "Why is it taking so long?" Alice frowned, sipping lemon water and glancing at the still lengthy queue ahead.

Blanche had gone ahead to inquire. She explained, "For safety reasons, the safe house doesn't allow guns inside except for the guards. They need to check everyone individually. Besides, once inside, everyone has a different living arrangement. To have a good place, you need to exchange supplies for 'work points.' With over 10,000 work points, you can stay in a super 'luxury mansion.' Other arrangements will only be known after entering. Of course, you can get in without work points, but the living conditions won't be as good."

Alice understood and asked, "What can you exchange for work points?" Blanche replied, "Supplies, daily necessities, and valuable items. Anything of value can be exchanged, and they assign work points accordingly."

Blanche yawned, "The exchange process upfront is slow, and there are many people, so we have to wait."

Alice laid the chair flat and then took out a pillow and a thin blanket. "If you're tired, go ahead and rest. It's not like we'll be there so soon."

"Alright, let's take turns. I'll sleep for an hour, and you can wake me up later," Blanche said, lying down and gently closing her eyes.

Alice took out headphones and a tablet, casually playing a pre-downloaded movie to pass the time. Occasionally, she kept an eye on the moving queue ahead to avoid missing any developments or people cutting in.

Herschel looked at her with concern and handed her a water bottle.

"I know," Beryl forced a smile, fanning herself with a hand-held fan as she quickly walked towards the shade of the trees.

The trees by the roadside were dried out, leaving only stumps. Nevertheless, there were enough stumps to provide some shade. Beryl stared at Herschel's car, which was so rundown that even the windows were covered with iron plates. Since breaking ties with Alexander, she had to find supplies on her own, sharing what she found with her uncle's family. Unable to endure a life of constant hunger, she packed up one afternoon and left.

She fainted on the way but was brought back by Herschel. Living alone, he used to run a small grocery store, so his warehouse had plenty of food. She decided to stay.

Now, it was three o'clock in the afternoon, and waves of heat hit. Beryl felt like she was burning up, extremely uncomfortable. She drank most of the water in one gulp and looked around. Suddenly, she spotted a familiar car – it was Alexander's car!

The windows of the car were tightly closed, indicating there was air conditioning inside, or else it would be unbearably hot.

Beryl bit her lip, discreetly avoiding Herschel's gaze, and walked towards the cars in the front of the queue. Alexander was playing with a Rubik's cube, having already finished all the snacks and ice cream that Alice had left.

At that moment, he heard a knock on the car window. He slightly lowered the window, only to be met with a familiar yet disdainful face. Alexander didn't hesitate to roll up the window, but Beryl was quicker. She urgently pulled at the window, shouting, " can you let me in? I'm about to roast alive; I feel so uncomfortable."

"What you feel has nothing to do with me," Alexander frowned, looking at her displeased. "Let go."

Beryl could feel the coolness inside from outside the car window. She keenly noticed the leftover food, including the ice cream, and the empty snack bags. A hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.

Having experienced the benefits of having a space in the apocalypse, she felt resentment.

are you really so heartless?" Beryl looked at him with teary eyes, her gaze pure and clear, like the sky after rain. A beauty crying with pear blossoms and raindrops, charming and moving. However, whenever Alexander thought about being betrayed, used,

"Beryl, stop pretending. I won't be soft-hearted towards you again, and don't even think about hurting Alice." Alexander pulled her hand away and forcefully closed the car window.

Beryl pounded on the car window with force. She had only been standing outside for a moment, but her entire back and scalp felt hot and painful.

Suddenly, Beryl stopped, and her whole body collapsed.

Arnold glanced at his silly younger brother and kindly reminded him, "She might have passed out from heatstroke. Shouldn't you go down and check on her?"
