บท 3562: Chapter 2692: Hollywood Rhapsody (15)

After conducting some research, Shiller realized that it was indeed possible. To avoid the fate anchoring from the DC side, Superego used the power of the System to transfer Shiller's entire being to Marvel.

However, Marvel did not have a physical body for him, so Superego had to use the System's power to create one. It was Superego's first time doing such a thing and since he had never created a human before, he could only mimic the appearance of DC's Shiller and created an exact copy.

While the appearance was the same, the code from DC universe couldn't be directly transferred to another universe as they were fundamentally different. In reality, Superego had copied the code of an ordinary human being from this universe.

When Superego was copying, he didn't pay special attention to whether or not Shiller had autism. He was Shiller too, and wouldn't make trouble for himself, nor would he want to copy all the negative states. So, the initial state of this body was healthy.

So the question arises, why hadn't Shiller noticed this all along?

That's the saying, all the hardware he's ever used in his life had problems. If a piece of hardware is missing a component, the software that runs that hardware naturally won't have the driver for that component.

It's like a computer without a graphics card. There's no need to install graphics card drivers, and if you move the system intact to a computer with a graphics card, it will still lack the graphics card driver.

Without the graphics card driver, the computer system is unaware of the graphics card, and naturally does not know it has this additional component.

All the Shillers just didn't make the connection that his Marvel self was actually healthy.

But you can't blame Shiller. They had discussed before that if his life story was as God and Lucifer said it was, then where did his autism come from?

Firstly, the current body in DC is Shiller's original body, and his soul was taken from this body. Therefore, it's highly possible that the body was missing a part, causing the software that was born after to not recognize the part and hence not to install the driver.

This uninstalled driver system, when moved to another world, also wouldn't recognize the parts of the body in that world, and as a result, developed autism. Therefore, it is highly likely that there was an issue with the DC body.

But since this body was originally his, it was inevitable to have missing parts. After all these years, Shiller had already gotten used to it.

If it weren't for Wanda's eldest son shouting today, Shiller probably still wouldn't have realized that his Marvel body actually had the part, he just hadn't installed the driver and didn't know how to use it.

Shiller's facial expression became somewhat complex. Although he felt a bit foolish, that was not the main reason. The main reason was that the outburst of emotion just now didn't feel great to him either.

His spirit was operating in an extremely efficient manner, but the sudden emotional fluctuation caused chaos in the High Tower for a few minutes, and it still hadn't calmed down.

Now, sitting calmly in the car, he was fine, but what if there was an outburst at a critical moment?

That's why they say you shouldn't rubberneck when there's nothing going on. Once someone's having bad luck, they can choke even on cold water. Just as Shiller was thinking about this, the child cried again.

Perhaps because the space inside the car was cramped, the child felt a bit carsick. The new mother didn't know how to soothe him, and after Billy fussed in Wanda's arms for a while, he eventually let out a howl that startled everyone in the car.

At least there was a screen buffering that earlier shout, but this shout woke Shiller up three minutes later with everything he looked at surrounded by a blurry halo of light. What is this place? Is this still Los Angeles?

Then he realized he had cried, and the halo was actually the blur of tears.

Luckily, it wasn't just him; everyone in the car had cried. Beck cried terribly. Already emotionally unstable, the addition of a superpower user who could influence emotions made things worse. He cried so hard that Jarvis couldn't even handle him.

The group struggled to reach the house in Beverly Hills, barely able to walk, and finally, Wanda used magic to get them into the house.

Fortunately, Wanda finally managed to soothe Billy. She was now aware of the tremendous power of her firstborn son, who, as a clueless baby, could only communicate with the world through crying.

Although they hadn't figured out the principle behind this mutant ability, Wanda still felt she should soothe Billy, lest his crying render everyone else unable to do anything.

Shiller, although unaccustomed to this sensation, had not forgotten his main job. He needed to find a way to help Beck stabilize his emotions.

After being so emotionally unstable for so long, and after being beaten up by Iron Man and Captain America, Beck's physical and mental strength were almost depleted. He went upstairs to sleep, and Shiller also went to sleep to restore order to the High Tower.

Wanda was already exhausted from shopping and dozed off while soothing the child. Then, all three were awakened by a haunting cry—Billy was hungry again.

Wide awake now and unable to sleep, Shiller decided to provide a simple psychological counseling for Beck to find out the main reason for his emotional instability.

Although Beck was also forced to cry, it provided him with an outlet for his intense emotions and stabilized him somewhat. He was willing to sit down and fill out a form honestly.

Beck finished the form and handed it over to Shiller, who checked it and found that the cognitive reasoning part was flawless and the logic was quite normal; however, the emotional aspect was severely problematic.

Shiller then proceeded with some basic questioning and discovered that Beck's emotional instability was abnormal.

Indeed, some people are naturally more sensitive and prone to outbursts due to stimuli, and with insufficient education, they fall easily into a vicious cycle of emotional outbreaks. Beck was such a person.

But even emotional outbursts need a cause, either a sudden stimulus or the accumulation over time. Logically, Beck's anger towards Peter should have been the latter.

Previously, they didn't get along at work. Beck disagreed with Peter's opinions, and Peter didn't like Beck much, either. Then, someone misled Beck into thinking Peter had kidnapped him. Combining new grudges with old, it was normal for an outburst to happen suddenly.

However, Shiller noticed something off in the details. First, Beck admitted to Shiller that he was indeed jealous of Peter because he was just an ordinary technician while Peter was a revered genius researcher with much more say.

But for that very reason, Peter was too typical of a researcher, the very stereotype that everyone has in mind, with no attributes beyond a researcher.

The image of Peter in Beck's memory was just as such. When recalling their past interactions, he would call Peter a nerd, criticizing him for his lack of practical experience and his stiffness, making him less likable.

And with just one question, Shiller stumped Beck.

"When someone told you he was Spider-Man, didn't you ever have doubts?"

Beck was at a loss for words. He now realized that Spider-Man and Peter had no apparent connection.

Beck wasn't off the grid; he had heard many rumors about Spider-Man. Remember, The Third Generation Spider-Man was seen by the public as an ostentatious teenager riding on the coattails of a deceased person, and most photographs captured were of him in action, clearly showing that he was the restless troublemaker who gets overly excited.

This image was starkly different from Peter. Beck even mocked Peter privately, suggesting that he probably never set foot in a gym, let alone perform a proper squat.

Normally, upon hearing that the two were the same person, one would be shocked and doubtful, demanding an explanation.

But Beck couldn't recall any details about his emotional changes. All he remembered was accepting the fact, and then being fuelled with rage, wanting to confront Peter.

As for how he learned about Peter's whereabouts, that too was a blur.

The reason he didn't question his sporadic memories was that it had always been like this for him: when emotions took over, his mind went blank, unable to control anything.

Seeing such a result, Shiller understood that Beck must have been carefully selected by someone as a tool. Using this method to deceive a normal person was too obvious, as even the deceived would realize something was amiss with their memories.

But manipulating someone already mentally unstable, like Beck, who would forget everything when he became emotional, was much easier. It was like he was born for troublemaking, akin to The Hulk.

The military used to manipulate The Hulk, but Shiller doubted it was them this time, as the kidnapping case was too convoluted, not characteristic of the generals who thought with their guns.

Thinking it over, Shiller felt the key might lie with Robbins. Pamela and Barry were still busy with planting in the Himalayas. Shiller called Pamela, hoping Barry could bring Robbins over.

Pamela set out to do so right after the call, but soon after, Shiller received bad news: Robbins was missing.

He was said to have been detained in Kamar-Taj with several Grand Mages watching over him. They planned to investigate the source of his Cloak once the current rush was over, but he vanished right under their watch.

This elevated Shiller's concern for Robbins, and he immediately began searching his memory bank for details on the minor thug, recalling that the Cloak was indeed not without origin, rumored to be connected to Dormammu.

Fortunately, Dormammu was now on their side. Kamar-Taj reached out to Dormammu, who vehemently denied any involvement.

After researching the Cloak and the shoes, the Mages confirmed they were not powered by Dormammu, who had been hiding out in his Dark Dimension slimming down, not stirring up trouble for a long while.

If it wasn't related to Dormammu, then the plot had changed, and there might be someone else behind Robbins, still undetermined for the time being.

Shiller shared the news about Robbins with Beck, but with Beck not in the right mental state to provide any useful leads, Shiller could only wait for the perpetrator behind the scenes to eventually slip up.

Now they faced an even more pressing issue: Wanda's elder son, Billy, had started crying again.
