Standing by the bed, Constantine conjured a magic array in his hand, but suddenly clenched his fist, extinguishing the glow of the magic, he muttered to himself: "No, I can't use magic..."
Then, he disappeared, when he came back after a while, he had a soggy towel. He uncovered Lawrence's quilt, grabbed his neck, and before he could scream or struggle, he pressed the anesthetic-soaked towel over his mouth and nose. Very soon, Lawrence went motionless.
He then pulled out a syringe of anesthetic from his pocket, stuck it into Lawrence's neck, and then dragged him off the bed. Facing Lawrence lying on the floor, Constantine scratched his head and said, "Let's see... nail him to the cross, but where can I find such a huge cross? Do I have to steal it from the church?"
"...Forget it, it's just an imitation anyway."
Having said that, he disappeared again. When he returned after a while, he held some long nails in his hand and began to drive them into Lawrence's body.
The severe pain jolted Lawrence awake, but Constantine showed no signs of stopping. Not until he drove a nail straight through Lawrence's skull did he dust off his hands and say, "That should do it, right?"
"Wait, there's a little more..." As he said that, Constantine positioned Lawrence's arms out in a straight line, made his legs close together, head facing the window, shaped like a cross, he then continued, "There, that should be plenty of religious symbolism, right?"
Then, the room disappeared, Batman narrowed his eyes and asked Constantine, "So, did you kill Hawk?"
Constantine shook his head, somewhat helpless, said: "I know one case can't be called a serial murder, so I've to do another, but just when I was about to start, I heard that a mob boss named Hawk died, followed by a guy named Richie. I don't know what's going on here, so I didn't do anything hasty."
"Hawk and Richie were not killed by you?"
Constantine shook his head and said, "I've already told you that Lawrence was killed by me, there's no need to lie about the rest."
"And then?"
"But I didn't expect that even with three continuous murder cases, this Professor Shearer didn't come to investigate. I didn't understand why, so I went back and read his file carefully… "
"Then I found out, this professor seems to be very picky, he only likes to get involved in very peculiar homicides..."
Constantine took another puff on his cigarette, then spat out the butt, and continued, "In that Rushing City case, the killer liked to skin people, then left a skinless live person to struggle at the scene until the moment the police came to rescue him, then detonated a bomb to blow him up… "
"In that Seashore City case, the killer liked to kill with corrosive liquid, they replaced some people's home shower pipes, when they were showering, the pipes burst, and the strong corrosive chemical liquid dissolved the person… "
"There are many similar cases, they all have in common that the method of the killer is very bizarre, and the state of the deceased after their death is often very tragic."
"So, I understood. It's because the crime scenes I created were not gruesome enough and couldn't catch the professor's interest, that's why he didn't show up."
"Although I don't know how those two mob bosses died, that doesn't stop me from targeting another person… "
"Just then, Lauren introduced me to Cooper, a prey delivered to my doorstep, why should I let it go?"
"I used some magic tricks to gain Cooper's trust, he told me that Lauren had given him some methods to control children, then he could exploit the children inside Gotham City, making a lot of money to give to Lauren, to resurrect her son."
"I told him that my methods were different from Lauren's, I had to make a deal with the demon, I told him I could pay the price of the deal for him, but he would have to pay me a lot of money after the matter, Cooper agreed."
"We performed the ritual in his reception room, I drew a magic array in the middle of the floor. Of course, Cooper only has a superficial understanding of occult knowledge, otherwise, he should have noticed, this was a magic array for summoning demons."
"I summoned a demon and offered Cooper himself as the sacrifice. The power of that demon instantly crushed him and devoured part of his body."
"After making the sacrifice, I could make demands of the demon. Of course, the wish couldn't be to resurrect Cooper's son. After all, with Cooper dead, who could cause me trouble?"
"I had the demon create an Ash Avatar for me. It's a common tool in Hell, a type of illusion technique. I could do it myself, but it's a bit of a hassle, so I took advantage of the sacrifice and had the demon do it."
"So that's why you turned into a pile of ashes in that basement?" Gordon asked.
"Yes, it was merely an avatar."
"But if I had already started investigating Cooper's death, why would you bother creating an avatar?"
"Well, because of your impressive resume. Once I'd read it thoroughly, I realized you might not be as easy to handle as I'd thought. Sneaking into your mansion would be somewhat risky, so I had to divert you as far away as possible and buy as much time as possible."
"What about the boarding school part?"
"Alright, the trap-like room, the key manager leading the way, the ghosts in the corridor, and Lady Sanchez the demon, I created all of them. As for my intentions..."
Constantine tilted his head back to look at Shiller.
"You wanted to kill me, right?"
"It seemed the reasonable thing to do." Constantine looked straight into Shiller's eyes. "After viewing your resume, I decided killing you would be a public service. Don't tell me that a normal person would keep investigating these horrible cases and revel in it."
"Can you explain the process in more detail?"
"Since I wasn't sure how much you knew about mysticism, I set up a series of traps."
As he finished speaking, they arrived at the entrance of the boarding school again. Another Constantine walked into the main gate of the boarding school headed for Lady Sanchez's office. Apart from Lady Sanchez, there was another man in the office.
"Hold on." Gordon paused the image. "Who's that? Who's that man?"
"He must be some lover of Lady Sanchez's. I'm not sure, but they seemed very intimate," said Constantine.
Then Shiller asked, "So, he must be the mummified corpse in the room, right?"
Constantine nodded and the replay resumed. Constantine and Lady Sanchez engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a fight.
The man and Lady Sanchez joined forces against Constantine. But it was clear that Constantine was more skilled. Using a black book, he summoned a small Magic Array. The sacrificial flame consumed the man, turning him into a mummy.
Lady Sanchez let loose a heart-wrenching roar, but she knew she was no match for Constantine. She fled towards her altar, hoping to use the power of the demon against Constantine.
Lady Sanchez used magic to quickly move towards the basement. However, Constantine's avatar didn't rush to chase her. Instead, he stayed in the original room, setting up a trap.
