Its hulking form rippled and shifted, morphing into a creature eerily similar to Thomas's beasty figure, its jaws stretching into a grotesque grin.

Realization then dawned on me. These weren't just mindless guardians- they were the lost souls, twisted and moulded by this desolate realm. Each one, potentially, someone's friend, someone's loved one, only their humanity lost.

The transformed beast lunged, hunger replaced by primal hunger.

As the creature's mouth gaped wide, ready to devour me, a chilling screech echoed from behind me.

My heart hammered in my chest as Hunters yelled, "It's a shapeshifter, Run!" My gaze flickered to her, momentarily distracted, and I saw her entangled with the monstrous creature she'd been battling just moments before. Was this the first one, or the second? My mind reeled.
