Javier's mom entered abruptly, the door handle clicking as she stepped into the room.
Yvonne, startled, immediately responded, "You should have knocked. You scared me."
"Yvonne, if you have decided to leave, then let's cut contact," Javier's mom declared.
Yvonne was shocked. "Mother."
"From now on, I don't know you, and you don't know me." She coldly stated as she looked down, and then her gaze met with Yvonne. "I don't want to feel guilty."
"It hasn't gotten to that," Yvonne insisted.
"Yes, it has gotten to that," Javier's mom retorted. "I will help you not because you pleaded with me, but because I know my son. He will get over it soon, the way he got over your sister's death."
Javier's mom then turned her gaze towards Dr. Phillip.
"When will you guys carry out the plan?"
Yvonne could hardly believe that, because of her decision, Javier's mom was now cutting contact with her. The realization stung, and it was an understatement to say that she wasn't hurt by it. Javier's mom had been like a second mother to her; whenever she returned from abroad, she would always bring Yvonne a souvenir.
Thanks to Javier's mom, after her mother's death, Yvonne was able to feel a mother's love again. However, Yvonne couldn't blame Javier's mom for the decision she had taken; after all, she wasn't her biological mother, just a mother gained through marriage.
"Today," Dr.Phillip said as he stood up.
Javier's mom nodded.
Dr. Phillip then looked at Yvonne.
"My break is over, so I will be leaving."
"Okay."
As Dr.Phillip walked back to his office, he saw Helen patiently waiting for him by his office door.
Helen smiled and waved at him.
Dr. Phillip sighed and walked over to her. "What are you doing here?"
"I was waiting for you," she says, biting her lip. "to ask about my friend."
Dr.Phillip opened his door, and Helen entered. As Helen moved to close the door, he told her not to close it but to leave it wide open.
"Why? I don't want anyone to hear about the medical issue of my friend," she said.
"Don't worry, no one will hear; you are not that loud."
"I can get very loud."
"What do you want to talk to me about her?" he said, attempting to shift the topic.
Helen, undeterred, sat down, crossing her legs. "Will she die?"
"Die?" he questioned. "Why are you talking as if you want her to die?"
"I am just asking; death is a normal part of life, and I just want to be prepared."
Dr.Phillip rested his arm on the desk.
'Maybe I should dig deeper and see what she really wants,' he thought to himself.
"I can't say anything about the fact; we just have to see if her condition improves or not," he replied cautiously.
"Well," Helen said, standing up and approaching Dr.Phillip.
Before she could touch his shoulder, he grabbed her hand. "I have a beautiful wife with two kids that are around your age."
"I don't care," she whispered in his ear.
He pushed her away and stood up.
"Do you see these photos on my desk?" He pointed at pictures of his kids and his wife.
Helen laughed a little.
"Are you trying to tell me that you love your wife, so you wont..."
"Yes, I loved my wife so much, very much," he affirmed. "I worship the ground she walks on, and not only that, I also have wonderful children who make me happy, so..." he paused for a moment. "I think you should leave."
"I believe a man will succumb to his desires regardless of whether they loved their wife," Helen argued.
Dr.Phillip laughed.
"Why are you laughing?"
"Is that what you learned from your parents?" he said, moving closer to her. "Not all men are like that; it is bad men who do that. Listen, kiddo, I was in this world before you, and I can see things you can't see. I will advise you to go outside, and you will see how beautiful this world is."
Helen tightened her fist. How could he say that? Just what he says makes Helen feel challenged. She believes that there is no man in this world who loves their wife when they see another beautiful woman.
Helen took her bag and left the office. She vowed to bring him down for what he just said.
Meanwhile, Javier got a call from Leo while sitting in his car.
Boss, Dennis isn't saying anything, and he kept insisting he wants to speak to you."
"Why does he want to speak to me?"
"I don't know!"
"Okay, I am coming now," he said, ending the call.
Javier sighed, staring at a picture of Dennis and him.
"Dennis, do you really want me to do the punishment myself?" he said to himself.
Javier deleted the picture from his phone and started his car. Thirty minutes later, he arrived at the headquarters where the punishment was being carried out.
He hesitated a bit before he opened the door, revealing Dennis in a chair, splattered with blood. As soon as he saw Javier, he smiled.
"Boss, you are here."
"Let me handle him," Javier said.
Leo and Isai left the room where the punishment was taking place. Javier took a chair and sat across from Dennis.
"Why do you want to see me?" Javier said. "Do you want to tell the truth?"
"Javier," he breathed heavily. "Have you forgotten what we went through?"
"I think you are the one who has forgotten it. So tell me, who is behind you?"
"I won't do that."
"You do know that if you do not tell me, I will eventually find out."
Dennis laughed.
"Just because of a girl, you are willing to throw away our friendship."
"Why are you acting dumb?" Javier said. "You once told me that you would never put someone you love in danger, but I am listening to you," he said, standing up. "You are a danger to Yvonne, and I don't want to keep you around."
"Is it now that you are listening to my advice?"
Javier stood up and took an iron cane.
"I will not ask you again; who is behind you?"
Dennis remained silent.
As Javier was going to hit Dennis with it, Mirabelle came in between them, and the cane accidentally hit Mirabelle.
Javier was shocked.
