Under the veil of the darkness, Mother Rui's thin figures shuttled between the towering trees, her soft-soled shoes masking any traces of her footsteps. Like a small, scurrying animal, she trailed behind the group until they reached the vicinity of the temple. 

Up ahead was an open space, and Mother Rui cleverly hid among the scrubbery, ducking just in time to hear a familiar voice:

"You're here?"

Her eyes widened and she instinctively clasped a hand over her mouth, stifling the surprised cry that threatened to escape.
