"If you ask me, I still think going to the club with me is a bad idea," Kimberly said to Melvin as she drove them to the club.

"You've been saying that for over an hour now so I don't need to ask you. If you think I'm going to let you spend time with my friends alone, then you're out of your mind," Melvin said and she shook her head.

"Seriously, Melvin, isn't this out of character for you? Had the swap not happened, would you have ever thought of taking me to the club to meet your friends? What do you think they are going to think about you if you suddenly show up with me?" Kimberly asked reasonably.

"That's why I said you have to make them believe that you insisted on coming along with me," Melvin said and Kimberly shook her head.

"And I told you that I never would insist that I come along with you to meet your friends. That's out of character for me," Kimberly said and Melvin looked at her.
