บท 30: Chapter 30: He's dangerous

He observed his surroundings, but couldn't locate the source of the killing intent that he only felt for a brief moment. In an instant, the killing intent had disappeared, as if it was never there in the first place.

"Is something the matter?" Uther asked, noticing Duke Ashborn looking all around, suspiciously.

Duke Ashborn shook his head. "It's nothing. Just something insignificant."

He didn't know who this killing intent belonged to. There were so many people here that it was impossible to even know who it was. However, he didn't care much either. If the other side was actually serious about it, then it was only a matter of time before they came across him. He wasn't in any hurry.

He shifted his attention back to Uther. "I didn't expect you to be here. How did your father even allow you to leave the Palace?"

Uther burst into laughter. "It wasn't easy to convince him. And even after he allowed me to leave, he didn't let me leave alone. As you can already see..."

He shrugged, his meaning clear. He was accompanied by close to fifty Royal Knights and Count Atlan. He could be said to be the most protected person in Camelot.

Duke Ashborn understood the meaning of the young man. He knew how crazy Arthur was. As much as that man loved fighting, he loved his son. It was still pretty lax that he only sent fifty Royal Knights.

He was sure that the Knights weren't all there was to it. There was no way Arthur didn't leave any other protective means with Uther. It was impossible for him to leave his son's safety solely in the hands of the Royal Knights.

Duke Ashborn was sure that Uther had some treasure that could allow him to protect his life, giving Arthur enough time to reach him.

....

Raven remained in his seat. He had quickly controlled his killing intent as soon as he realized that it was getting dangerous.

He kept playing with the pen in his hand, as he glanced at the young boy next to Duke Ashborn. In essence, that young boy was supposed to be his younger brother.

However, he had long forsaken those people. At this moment, they were nothing more than strangers... The strangers that he wanted to ruin.

He closed the curtain, resting his head back on the seat. His eyes closed as he lost himself in some thoughts.

.....

Uther and Duke Ashborn talked for a few minutes, only stopping when there was a signal that it was time for the train to depart.

"It was great talking to the Duke. Unfortunately, it's time for me to leave. Maybe I'll visit the Ashborn Palace in the near future," Uther stated as he turned around, walking back towards the entrance of the train.

"You'll always be welcome," Duke Ashborn spoke, watching the young prince leave. It was only after Uther left that the Duke's expressions went cold.

"Stay away from that boy... He's dangerous." He told his son as if giving a reminder. "And don't let him know your true purpose."

"Don't worry, Father. I'm your son. I know what to do," Allen calmly stated with maturity beyond his age. "I will not fail you."

Duke Ashborn placed his hand over his son's head. It was only at this moment that his cold face revealed some warmth. "I know you won't."

Allen walked toward the train. His Knights followed after him. Just like other Nobles, the Ashborn heir was only allowed to be accompanied by two Knights as well. It was only the Prince that could take more.

The two strongest Knights of Ashborn Duchy followed the young boy, their treasure swords hanging around their waist.

Since his father had told him to avoid Uther as much as possible, Allen selected the coach that was just ahead of Uther's coach.

As he stepped inside the train, he noticed that most of it was empty, except three chairs where people were sitting. From their attire, the three appeared like commoners as well, which slightly surprised him.

He hadn't expected to see any commoners on the Train as it was only for the Nobles usually.

"Should we remove them?" The Knight who accompanied Allen asked.

"Let them be. Since they're here and haven't been kicked off yet, it seems to be within the rules," Allen replied, glancing at the Royal Knight in the coach.

As the Prince was traveling on this train, a Royal Knight was assigned to every coach for protection. In the Royal Knight's presence, Allen didn't want to do anything troublesome.

With only the last stretch of this journey left, he didn't want to be bothered or do anything that could catch the Prince's attention.

He simply ignored the commoners as he walked past Raven. The Knights also didn't do anything. They took their positions, protecting their young lord.

Raven opened his eyes as the train started moving again. He glanced at Duke Ashborn one last time, whose back was turned towards him just like in the past.

The train began moving, soon departing the station and returning to the embrace of the snowy landscape, moving through the desolate land.

The farther the train went, the less any signs of civilization became, until as far as the eyes could see, there was nothing but snow.

"The scenery outside reminds me of Little Frost. She would've loved it if she was here," Leira spoke, looking outside.

"Were you able to get in contact with her?" Zephyr asked, hearing the name of an old friend.

Leira shook her head in response. "Unfortunately, I haven't been able to. It's been years since I last heard from her. If I'm not wrong, maybe she's already been..."

She didn't finish her sentence, glancing at Raven. In the last few centuries, they didn't have a good life either. They had spent most of their life, running and hiding while waiting for an opportunity in which they could save Raven from this cruel cycle.
