บท 72: A Traitor!

If she only knew Alonso was just going to drop her off in their room and then leave, she would have preferred to stay in the winter garden where there wouldn't be any walls suffocating her.

Unable to sleep without him in bed, she sat up and glanced at her right side where the framed photo of her father now sat on her nightstand. Her eyes moistened as she pictured her uncle coming into her room and placing it there.

"That's the second time today, Jack," she murmured.

If it hadn't felt shameful to go outside right now and stay in her uncle's room, she would have done so already. Anything was better than eating herself up all alone like this.

Just when she couldn't stand the loneliness any longer, Alonso opened the door, closed it, and then rushed to the dressing room without saying a word. She heard the sound of clothes rustling before he came out wearing pajamas, something her husband—who usually slept naked—never did.
