Each single Wild Vampire had a distinct footprint in Max's sensitive ears, symphonic and terrifying. Having a face that screamed of suppressed fear, gulping his scarce saliva, Max's eardrums assumed the functioning of strong resonance of a primal drumbeat.

Normally, the assembled sounds of matching military soldiers always sounded sturdy and reassuring to him. However, this was not the matching sounds of military soldiers.

It sounded like the chaotic echoes of running and speeding dead men that didn't know where they were actually going. His highly imaginative brain was not helping the situation, either, making it unnecessarily intense.

Max didn't know why but another part of his brain began to do what it believed was the right thing at this hopeless moment, the red texts dancing upward in his eyes as it selected the options:
