บท 26: Brink of Death

A whirlwind erupted from the chaos, its ferocious spin gathering the street's mist into a tornado's wrath. "You're going to die...!" Clyde Mardon screamed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. The recent blast had flung him hundreds of meters away, and the fall had severely damaged his internals. Fear had seized him; the brief touch of Elon's lightning had nearly ended his life, and while he didn't understand the science behind it, he knew Elon towered over him like a merciless deity, capable of snuffing out his existence with ease.

The terror Elon had instilled in Mardon was profound, leaving an indelible mark of fear in his psyche. To Mardon, Elon was a god, a cold and merciless Thunder God standing between heaven and earth, his finger pointed in judgment, ready to obliterate. Mardon's confidence had been shattered by the intellectual superiority displayed by Elon's powers. Now, all he wanted was to escape.

So, he summoned all the air and mist he could command into a tornado, aiming straight for Elon as he turned to flee. The street was clear yet chaotic as the tornado's eye swept towards Elon, pulling in shards of glass, dim leaves, dirt, and debris in its wrathful dance.

In response, Elon's right hand crackled with electricity, his left hand drawing power from his shoulder down to his palm, forming a sharp electrical spear as large as his arm. The spear, shimmering with silver light, seemed to warp the very air around it. With a forceful push, Elon launched the spear, its rotation countering the tornado's spin as it pierced straight through the eye.

The tornado's force was nullified as the electrical spear collided with it, its path unobstructed and mighty, sweeping up glass, leaves, dirt, and even bending nearby trees. As the spear reached the eye of the storm, the twenty-meter-tall tornado was breached and dissipated in an instant, leaving only debris falling from the sky.

The spear didn't vanish after piercing the tornado but continued its relentless trajectory towards the fleeing Mardon. It wasn't until the spear severed Mardon's left arm that it finally buried itself into the ground and disappeared. A burnt stench filled the air as the high-frequency vibrations of the spear cauterized the wound instantly, leaving no blood to spill.

Mardon collapsed to the ground, his consciousness fading as the intense pain from his severed limb jolted his brain. "No..." he wailed in terror, pleading for mercy, "Please... don't do this, spare me!" His cries were those of a man who had come face to face with a demon, a terrifying figure wreathed in lightning, with silver eyes and a monstrous visage.

But Elon was unmoved. His silver veins pulsed as he looked down at Mardon with merciless eyes. Anyone who harmed Barry, anyone who threatened his hope of returning home, deserved annihilation. For his home, for his love, they must all perish.

Elon extended his right hand again, ready to conjure another lightning spear to finish Mardon. The distance was 160 meters—too far for a simple electric arc, but the spear would take only a second to form.

Suddenly, Elon's speed force stirred within him, a sensation he had only felt on the day he awoke, when Barry was in mortal peril. It was a bad omen, and as it pulsed rapidly, Cisco's alarmed voice cut through the air.

"Elon, Barry's losing too much blood...!"

Elon disbanded the forming spear. Barry's safety was the priority; there was no time to waste. He reverted from his fearsome battle mode to his super-speed thought process and rushed back to Barry's side.

Barry was in shock, convulsing unconsciously, his broken ribs threatening to puncture his organs. Elon felt the speed force within him thrashing urgently, signaling imminent danger.

Barry couldn't die.

Elon controlled a small current of electricity, ready to stimulate Barry's cells to regenerate and produce more blood. As his hands neared Barry's ribs, the speed force surged eagerly through his fingers.

He entered a state of accelerated speed, where the world seemed to come to a halt. This was the power of the speed force, a state so potent it made everything else appear frozen in time.

Without a moment to lose, Elon set Barry's broken ribs back in place. The speed force, as if sentient, infused into the bones, accelerating the calcification of new bone matrix. After setting the ribs, Elon covered Barry's chest with his hands, allowing the speed force to activate the hematopoietic stem cells, urging cellular division to replenish the blood supply and sustain Barry's life. This method was a desperate measure that could potentially reduce Barry's lifespan, but it was better than dying right now.

In just a few seconds, which felt like minutes, the speed force within Elon began to wane, flickering like the last embers of a dying fire, its final sparks threatening to extinguish.
