*(Pov Riser Phenex...)*
Right after finishing my fight, I was moved to a meeting room where the elders were voting on the enmity between the Phenex and Glasya-Labolas houses. (A/N: Riser did not kill the heir, just beat him to a pulp. Thanks to Phenex's tears. He will be fine. Physically. Not mentally.)
I continued to observe the reactions of the demonic elders closely after Riser's impressive display of power. The murmurs in the room grew as they discussed recent events, their voices interspersed with whispers and muffled exclamations.
TAP! TAP! TAP!
The sound of Zekram Bael's cane against the marble floor silenced the attendees. All eyes turned to the patriarch of the Bael, whose stern expression betrayed no emotion.
"Gentlemen," his deep voice echoed through the room, "I believe it is unnecessary to emphasize how... surprising the young Phenex's performance was."
A murmur of agreement rippled through the assembly. Glasya-Labolas shifted uncomfortably in his chair. The shame over his heir's behavior was palpable.
"However," Zekram continued, "we cannot allow this incident to tarnish the relations between our noble houses."
His piercing eyes fixed on me for a moment. A shiver ran down my spine. It was as if he could see through my soul.
"What do you propose, Lord Bael?" one of the elders inquired, his voice trembling with anxiety.
An enigmatic smile formed on Zekram's lips. "An alliance, of course. Marriage has always been the most effective way to... calm heated tempers."
GULP!
I swallowed hard, anticipating the direction of the conversation. My fists clenched involuntarily.
"Riser Phenex has proven to be a formidable warrior and a natural leader," Zekram continued. "It would be an honor for any house to have this young prodigy as a son-in-law."
The gazes turned to Glasya-Labolas, who seemed to shrink in his seat. His face alternated between shades of red and white.
"B-But..." he stammered, "Zephyrdor was my only heir! How can I..."
"Oh, come now, my dear," interrupted an elder woman, her eyes sparkling with malice. "We all know that your niece, the young Iryuka, possesses extraordinary talent. Wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to elevate her to the position of heir?"
A murmur of approval rose. Glasya-Labolas looked cornered, like a trapped animal.
"I-I..." he stammered, searching for an escape. But there was nowhere to run. "Yes, perhaps... perhaps that would be best."
THUD!
I slammed my fist against the arm of the chair, unable to contain my indignation. All eyes turned to me, startled.
"With all due respect, gentlemen," I shouted, my voice trembling with contained fury, "I am not a piece in your political chess game!"
Zekram raised an eyebrow, an amused glint in his eyes. "Oh? And what do you suggest, young Phenex?"
I took a deep breath, trying to organize my thoughts. The anger threatened to cloud my judgment, but I could not afford to succumb to emotion. Not there, not in front of those vultures.
"If you desire an alliance," I declared, controlling the tone of my voice, "let it be forged through actions, not empty votes. Let Miss Iryuka and I work side by side, as equals. If we prove to be compatible, then—and only then—will I consider the marriage proposal."
A stunned silence fell over the assembly. The elders looked at each other, disconcerted by the audacity of my words.
Then, to my surprise, Zekram Bael burst into laughter. It was a guttural sound, almost threatening.
"Ha! Ha! Ha!"
"Fascinating!" he exclaimed, his eyes twinkling. "Absolutely fascinating! Look, Glasya-Labolas, the boy has spirit!"
The patriarch of the Glasya-Labolas seemed bewildered but nodded hesitantly. "Y-Yes, indeed..."
"Very well, Riser Phenex," Zekram rose, his imposing figure dominating the room. "So be it. You and young Iryuka will have the opportunity to prove your worth... together."
WHOOSH!
A gust of cold air swept through the room, as if the very shadows had sighed in anticipation. I met Zekram's gaze, holding his penetrating stare.
"I will not disappoint you," I affirmed with conviction.
A crooked smile curled the elder's lips. "Of that, my young... I have no doubt."
And so, without my knowledge, the dice of fate were cast. The game had just begun, and I was a central piece on the board. It remained to be seen whether I would emerge victorious... or be devoured by the shadows lurking in the corners of that dark hall.
**
Sighing as I left the room, more tired than when I entered, I soon saw my fiancées in the hall. Some of them were enthusiastically chatting around a girl who lived with Ravel and Iryuka, who are very close friends.
"Hello!" I said with a smile on my face.
I quickly saw a blonde-haired rocket dive into my chest. Violently. I would even say it was a brutal blow to all the Oni-chans in the multiverse.
The subsequent hug was so overwhelming that it would shake the foundations of a being's core, no matter how devastating Ravel's attack on Riser was.
At the end of Ravel's Overwhelming Attack, Riser had promised to take her and her friend to visit a village near the Phenex mansion, where Riser would buy ice cream and let them go to the amusement park. (A/N: The devilish version of an amusement park.)
After Riser pulled away from Ravel, he could see Rias with one of her cheeks puffed with air. Clearly wanting to participate too, but wanting a date just for them.
With a smile on my lips, I said, "How about taking each of you on an individual date? That way, I can do something special for each of you." I said, already thinking of places that would please them.
Latia, with her cheeks blushing, just tossed her hair with her hand in a tsundere style, not answering the question. But given how much she was blushing, she couldn't deny it.
Sona had her glasses sliding down her nose, almost falling, clearly showing she was caught off guard. At the same time, her lips were parted, opening and closing, trying to form a word but unable to say anything.
Seekvaira had her nose up and her posture straight, but the little smile on her lips clearly gave away her acceptance of Riser's invitation.
"Of course, Riser. But we need to plan it beforehand, okay?" Seekvaira said, being the only one capable of forming words and setting aside her shyness.
"Very well. I will let you know before we go out. I believe we are done here, so it's time to go home," I affirmed to my fiancées as I started to walk toward the hall's exit.
What Riser didn't perceive, or perhaps did perceive in some way, was Serafall's envious look at the other girls. (A/N: Riser noticed, and he also knows that, in a way, he is engaged to her as well.)
**(Dream)
The light of creation illuminated everything around me. Each atom seemed to pulse with the energy of the Presence, a symphony of order and chaos perfectly orchestrated. I was there, a witness and participant, alongside my brothers and sisters, molded by the will of a Being I was beginning to question. At first, it was impossible not to admire the beauty of the cosmos emerging from nothing, from absolute void. The vastness of the multiverse unfolded before our angelic eyes, like an intricate tapestry being woven by invisible hands.
When the Presence created Adam, there was a purity in that act that seemed to transcend everything we had seen until then. He was made from the dust of the earth, but there was something divine in his essence. However, when Lilith appeared, I felt for the first time a glimpse of rebellion. She was strong, indomitable, refusing to submit to the role imposed upon her. God banished her, and that sparked something within me. Why should the divine will be unquestionable? Why was Lilith's freedom of choice considered such a grave offense?
When the Djinns, led by Elias, the very Devil, rebelled, my dissatisfaction grew. They were beings made of fire, destined to serve humanity, but they questioned their purpose and were punished for it. Divine justice began to seem more arbitrary with each new decision.
THE DISTANT SOUND OF THUNDER, A LOW ROAR OF FURY
The voice of the Presence became a constant whisper, never visible, only an intangible presence that guided and commanded. I, Samael, looked at my brothers, observing their expressions of doubt and fear. We were not robots. We had feelings, thoughts, desires. And thus, the idea of rebellion was planted in my heart, growing like an uncontrollable weed.
SOFT FLUTTER OF WINGS, A SINISTER WHISPER SWEEPING THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE
"Should we follow blindly?" I asked the others, my words echoing in the celestial vastness. "Do we not have the right to question? To choose our own destiny?"
The reaction was immediate. Michael, ever the faithful, raised his sword of light, his eyes full of profound sadness. "It is not for us to question the Creator's will, Samael. Our existence is
a gift, a purpose that must be fulfilled."
But I could not accept that answer. The injustice done to Lilith, the subjugation of the Djinns, the creation of Eve as an obedient replacement, all of this seemed like a series of errors I could not ignore. My rebellion was not just a matter of pride or power; it was a matter of justice, of freedom.
And so, I gathered those who shared my vision. We made a vow, a pact of freedom. Our battle was not against God, but against the tyranny of an order that allowed no choice. The war was brutal, a cacophony of light and shadow, screams of pain and triumph. In the end, we were defeated, cast into Hell, but not without leaving an indelible mark on creation.
THE CLASH OF SWORDS, BATTLE CRIES, THE FINAL THUNDER OF THE FALL
In Hell, I found a new purpose. To govern the lost souls, to create order in chaos. God, perhaps foreseeing this, entrusted me with this domain. But I knew there was more to be done. The Garden of Eden still called for an intervention.
CRACKLING OF FLAMES, DISTANT MURMURS OF TORTURED SOULS
Entering the Garden was an act of cunning. I found Adam and Eve, innocent and unsuspecting. Their minds were fertile ground for doubt and knowledge. I took the form of a serpent, a symbol of wisdom and temptation, and whispered hidden truths into their ears.
"Knowledge is power," I told them. "You were made to be more than mere servants. Eat from the forbidden fruit and see with your own eyes."
A SEDUCTIVE WHISPER, THE SOFT SOUND OF LEAVES RUSTLING, THE CRISPY BITE INTO THE FRUIT
And so, they ate. The first sin, the first true choice. They were expelled from paradise but gained freedom, the ability to question, to err, to grow. I, Lucifer, the Lightbringer, had fulfilled my role. Not as the destroyer, but as the liberator.
As I looked at the vastness of the newly created world, I felt no regret. I knew that true justice lay in freedom, in the ability to choose one's own destiny. And that was the greatest gift I could offer.
THE SOUND OF WIND BLOWING GENTLY, A SIGH OF SATISFACTION
"I am Lucifer Morningstar," I murmured to myself, "and my story is just beginning."
