As the battle slowly faded, a faint smile of excitement appeared on Zane's lips.
Initially, his purpose in killing Ego was simply to observe the methods of a six-dimensional being.
However, what he hadn't expected was such a surprising bonus.
After collecting Ego's soul in the [Realm of Dead], Ego's entire life of cosmic insights was now Zane's, becoming part of his foundation.
This completely filled the gap in Zane's understanding of this universe.
These insights were far more precious than the massive amounts of faith energy Ego's soul provided.
From the previous battle, it was clear that Zane fought entirely with his own power.
Ego, on the other hand, constantly manipulated the surrounding universe, rarely relying on his own strength.
Had it not been for the skills Zane gained through system rewards, it might not have been Ego who met his end.
This is the normal method of combat for a six-dimensional being—utilizing the universe's power to attack the opponent.
Rather than relying on brute strength alone.
This not only conserves a significant amount of energy but also makes the attacks much stronger.
However, the destruction to the surrounding environment is much greater.
For example, now, most of the planets in the galaxy where Ego resided had been shattered by the aftershocks of their battle.
Additionally, a nearly permanent black hole had formed.
As time goes by, this enormous galaxy would likely be swallowed entirely by the black hole, turning into a dead zone in the universe.
But does Zane care about this?
Not at all.
The fate of this galaxy means nothing to him.
Zane hadn't forgotten his original reason for seeking out Ego.
His immediate priority now was to resurrect Gamora and extract the detailed map to the Soul Stone from her.
And after witnessing the power of the Judge, Zane's urgency grew even stronger.
This was because, in his mind, Zane had simulated a battle between himself and the Judge.
In every scenario, the result was his death.
In other words, he was no match for the Judge at this moment.
Zane shrank down and casually walked to the white dwarf star, scanning it with his spirit.
He easily discovered the remains of Gamora and Star-Lord, now reduced to particles.
The [Mystic Eyes of Death Perception] activated instantly, locating the gravitational death points on these two particles.
Then, Zane further minimized his form and, using a finger now reduced to an unimaginable size, lightly tapped the gravitational death point, severing the forces binding the particles.
He then carried these two particles out of the black hole, instantly teleporting back to the mechanical planet of the Skynet.
Waiting for him was a big hug from Lorna.
"Are you okay?" Lorna asked with concern, looking Zane up and down.
"I'm fine. That blob was no match for me; I had him completely in my grip." Zane chuckled, rubbing Lorna's head.
Only now did Lorna and the others finally relax.
Zane then moved to the center of the hall, holding two invisible particles in his hand, sustained by the power of death.
Silently, he activated the skill [Death River]...
As the [Death River] was activated, a few faint white halos merged into the two floating particles.
In an instant, both Gamora and Star-Lord were resurrected.
With Ego's death, Star-Lord had also instantly fallen from a five-dimensional being back to an ordinary man, albeit a slightly stronger one.
He hadn't even used as many resurrection times as Gamora.
As for why Zane resurrected Star-Lord, it was, of course, to threaten Gamora.
Before the two could fully grasp their situation, several golden ripples appeared around them.
In the next moment, dozens of vibranium chains engraved with ornate runes hoisted them into the air, leaving them immobile.
After a brief moment of panic, Star-Lord and Gamora finally noticed Zane standing before them, smiling.
Instantly, their pupils shrank, and they both shuddered involuntarily.
Even though five years had passed since they last saw him, Zane's face remained deeply etched in their minds.
They couldn't forget him, no matter how hard they tried.
The impression Zane had left on them was simply too profound.
Five years ago, after being rescued by Yondu, the duo spent several months haunted by nightmares of the scene where Ronan's soul was devoured by countless skulls conjured by the Reaper's Scythe.
Ronan's desperate wails still seemed to echo in their ears even now.
It was a constant reminder to Star-Lord and Gamora that the charming, sunny man standing before them was, in essence, a demon who cared nothing for life.
Star-Lord instinctively swallowed hard, nervously looking at Zane, forcing a strained smile as he said, "Lord Zane, long time no see."
"Long time no see. How's it feel to be betrayed by your biological father?" Zane turned to Star-Lord, a mischievous grin on his face, and asked curiously.
"Uh…" Star-Lord was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure how to respond to Zane's question.
In the end, he could only manage an awkward yet polite smile and nodded stiffly, saying, "Not bad, not bad."
"Well, as long as it's not bad. Now, it's time for you to take a little nap."
Zane smiled at Star-Lord and nodded slightly. Then, a blinding light appeared at his fingertips.
In the next second, a beam of energy, no thicker than a finger, pierced straight through Star-Lord's forehead.
Even now, the awkward smile remained frozen on Star-Lord's face, with only a hint of shock in his eyes, as if he couldn't believe Zane had resurrected him only to kill him again.
Neither he nor Gamora were fools. Their memories told them they had indeed died before, and it was undoubtedly Zane who had resurrected them.
But Star-Lord never expected Zane to suddenly kill him in front of Gamora without warning.
Gamora instinctively turned her head, staring in shock at the gaping hole in Star-Lord's forehead.
In the next moment, she began struggling violently, screaming furiously at Zane:
"You devil!"
"Is it fun to bring him back to life, only to kill him again with your own hands?"
"Ahhhhhh!"
Zane calmly raised his hands, gesturing for her to settle down.
"Calm down, calm down. No need to get so worked up."
But Gamora couldn't hear a word he was saying. All she knew was that her lover had been killed in front of her.
"Don't you want Peter Quill to come back to life again?"
Hearing Zane's words, Gamora abruptly stopped, as if an invisible force had grabbed her by the throat, cutting off her furious screams in an instant.
