บท 41: Revenge of the Dragon Part II

"In that case, here it is, sir."

The young merchant immediately suggested before picking up a bottle that was displayed on the stall. It was a round glass bottle, which was clear enough to see the golden yellow liquid inside, and covered with a wooden cork at the top.

"Ether Potion, sir. It can add five units of mana to a summoner. Only 400G for a bottle."

"I'll have three bottles, then."

Joke decided, hardly giving much thought to it. He spent almost all of the money he had to buy three mana potions. Even though he could have looked around to find better deals, it seems like the small resentment in him caused him to forget all about it. The young merchant then smiled happily, immediately handing him the mentioned item in its card form. Joke touched the gold coin icon on his item window before selecting an amount of 1,200G, rendering it into a small money bag, and handing it to the merchant to successfully complete the trade.

“Oh, I forgot to mention, sir. Our store is currently offering a special promotion. With every 1,000G spent, you will receive a blueberry cheesecake cake, a special recipe created by our shop owner themself.”

The young merchant suddenly spoke as he picked up a card that had been placed on the table as if they were cards already planned for giveaways to customers. Joke took one of those cards and squinted his eyes to look at it in which he saw a picture of a colorful mouth-watering cake, a kind of cake that all the ladies would have taken out their phones to snap pictures of it once it was placed down on the table.

“It’s a delicious cake that will increase the Skill Cards’ cooldown rate by ten percent. Our owner is currently testing out the quality of their recipe. If you try it and become interested, you can order them from our shop at any time. There’s our name card attached to the cake card.”

"Thank you."

Joke received it without much interest because there was now something else for him to care about.

"Based on the clothes, you must be a beginner, I assume?" the young merchant asked.

"Yes, you can say that."

Joker replied with an expressionless look. He then threw all the cards into the item window before nodding to the merchant to bid farewell.

"Looks like you’re planning on using the mana potions for quests in the long term. If you get some strange items, you can sell them at our shop at any time. Thank you for choosing us."

The young man walked away when an errand in the market was finished.

"They’re not for quests... but instead for revenge.”

.

.

A tall figure stood outside of the town once again.

Joke was back here again with preparedness. All of his halves that were killed in the battle were now ready for use again. Once again, his iron-colored eyes were flickering around the vast grassland that was filled with small blue slimes bouncing irritably all over. The nighttime sky was filled with darkness, while the only source of light was from the moon illuminating brightly in the sky.

“Go ahead and bounce happily just for now, you bastards. I’ll take good care of every one of you, just wait.”

Joke muttered as he swept his eyes around, not seeing the King Slime anywhere nearby. His target was, of course, the giant jelly that dared kill him in the most disgusting manner. He deliberately waited for almost an hour for nighttime, which would obscure him from the sight of other summoners.

Joke held out his hand forward, calling out his principle card once again.

“Out you go, Eureasa!”

The half was summoned again. Her thin figure stood staring at her master, her rapier strapped at her waist, ready for a battle.

“You’re annoyed too, aren’t you? To go out in such a disgraceful state.”

The question sent the maiden half to pull her lips into a taut line because she, too, was also swallowed up by that slime. Joke then nodded at her.

“Then, go ahead. It’s time to avenge us.”

Without any delay, Joke flicked his hand, calling another card—“Dragon Step”—a card that would allow him to call out two dragons of lesser than level two onto the field. In the blink of an eye, the maiden half blew onto her dragon horn, eventually summoning the Baby Blue and Red Dragon soaring out into the sky.

Without waiting any further, Joke flicked his hand, issuing an order.

“Sweep out all of these slimes in an instant!”

It was as if the three halves were aware of what their master was about to do, they dispersed and attacked the slimes with the most intense and vicious attacks. Eureasa drew her sword and rammed into those jellies without any mercy while the two tiny dragons soared upwards, spitting fire to help out with the fight.

Joke, too, did not sit still. He continuously conjured up various Skill Cards, commanding the dragons to throw flames at every target that stood in its path, before using other Skill Cards one by one as far as his mana could afford them.

Joke ignored the warnings of the people in the Quest Bar. He knew that what he was doing was outright a challenge against the power of AOS.

If this was what AOS set up to pull the newbies’ legs, they could dream on if they thought this would bring him down!

Especially with the disastrous condition, he was put in by that wicked creature, there was no way he would let go of his grudge. So what if it was a level forty boss? ...He would put it to shame, just wait and see!

The rampage went on for almost ten minutes, wiping out hundreds of slime. The surrounding atmosphere then ultimately shifted. Many of the slimes that had not yet been destroyed all bounced off fleeing in different directions strangely. Joke’s iron-colored orbs caught onto his enemy’s rather peculiar behavior.

“You’ve appeared, haven’t you?” Joke then glanced at the information window that had been left open the entire time. “If a hundred slimes had been killed, it’ll appear, I see.”

His iron-colored orbs then glanced around cautiously as he was caught off guard last time. He had to admit that he made a false step that resulted in his death last time; he would, for sure, never allow it to happen once again. The two little dragons flew nearby him while Eureasa was still looking around carefully.

And at that moment, the maiden half sensed that there was something wrong.

It was during nighttime, but the shadow around her figure was expanding larger in a very abnormal way.

“Leap away from there, Eureasa!”

Joke shouted loudly when he noticed that.

Boom!!!!

The ground where the maiden half stood broke apart over a wide area with a large object, almost three meters tall, plummeting from the sky at high velocity. It was fortunate that Eureasa leaped away in time, narrowly escaping her death. And, of course, the giant jelly blob that attacked was no stranger.

“Opening with a bang this time, you bastard.”

Joke uttered as he stared at the giant jelly blob that was standing in its perfectly round mass with a crown on its head. This level-forty boss immediately turned its gaze toward Eureasa as if it was ready to attack.

Joke would never allow for that to happen. He quickly summoned the item card that he had just bought, turning it into a small potion bottle containing golden yellow liquid. The young man uncorked the bottle, chucking it down. He almost did not have any time to care about its sourness which felt like taking a big shot of lemonade.

What was sure was his mana was restored by five units, ready to summon out his next card!

"Come out, Brego!"
