The new Vice Captain!
"Huh! What vice-captain? When did I fight him?"
Adrian in surprise blurted out loudly, he didn't remember fighting any vice-captain. All he did was fight the weakest knight they brought.
"You fought him just now in the test. Viren is the vice-captain and the strongest knight after me in this knight order. I let him fight you as I didn't want you to get hurt by someone who couldn't control his strength but I never expected you to be so skilled. I worried for nothing; I am sure the knights will be very happy to see someone as strong as you becoming their vice-captain"
The captain cleared Adrian's doubts about the situation he was in, with his deep and cheerful voice.
"Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw! Why I had to be this stupid and why is their vice-captain so fxcking weak? Now here goes my plan of keeping a low profile down the drain. Now I understand why he said that he wasn't confident in beating me.
If that guy was their strongest 3-star knight then this captain of theirs shouldn't even be thinking of defeating me.
Aaaaaaah! Why is this getting so complicated. Can't anything go according to my plan for once!"
Adrian was so frustrated by this situation; he didn't want to be noticed by the kingdom till he is ready to defend himself against the kingdoms power.
"Huuu…, let's calm down first, everything hasn't gone down the drain yet. Should I pretend that I took some kind of drug to increase my physical capabilities and mana or should I just kill these both witnesses who will spread rumors about me.
No this isn't the solution, lets not cry over spilled milk and just keep going with the situation as it is."
Adrian eventually calmed himself down and decided to let time decide what will happen. He will just leave after a month anyways; he wasn't in that big of a problem right now. It could even be considered an opportunity to secure a seat for himself in the team which will get to go on the mission.
"You should go and rest for today, Sir Adrian. I will send someone to escort you tomorrow here. For today, you can stay in the guest house"
Tauras told Adrian as he called a guard to escort him to the guest house. After resting in the guest house Adrian slept for the night.
Next day---
"*knock**knock* Sir Adrian I have come to escort you to the knights training area"
A shout came from outside the door. Adrian stopped his mana circulation training and opened the door. What welcomed him was the sight of a familiar man. It was the former vice captain, Viren.
"Good morning, Sir Viren. Let's go, I will follow your lead"
Adrian left the guest house as he locked the door. Afterwards he followed Viren to the training grounds of the knights.
Viren was in his knight armor with Nadino county's emblem carved on it. After a bit of walking Adrian reached the training ground.
The Training ground was an open field with wooden weapons on the side. It was 200m long and 106m wide with grass growing on it. There was a podium in the center of the field with a statue of first count of the Nadino. On the podium was captain Tauras who was giving commands to the knights gathered in front of him.
When the captain saw Adrian approaching, he came running to escort him and give greetings like he was trying to please a superior or someone of high standing.
"Good morning, Sir Adrian. I hope that you had a pleasant rest. I would like for you to give your introduction the knights under you"
It could be seen from his behavior that Adrian's match yesterday has left a deep impression on him. He already considered Adrian, a great genius and someone who will be very successful in the future.
"Good morning to you too, Sir Captain. Let's get it over with then. I would also like it if you could tell me what I have to do from today."
Adrian stood on the podium. The captain started by announcing –
"As you have been informed previously, your former vice-captain was defeated in the recruitment test and according to the rules had been replaced with the knight who defeated him, Sir Adrian. So, from today onwards, he will be the vice-captain of the knight order."
"What? he defeated Sir Viren?"
"But he is so young"
"Maybe Sir Viren let his guard down thinking of him as a kid"
The whispers of knights could be heard. They could not believe that their new vice-captain was a young kid. They were also not wrong in thinking that, as anyone would react the same as most people only start their mana training at 15 and prior to that they only learn swordsmanship and handling other weapons.
"Silence!!!" The captain yelled to stop the whispers and after the sounds quietened down, he continued "Now Sir Adrian will address you!"
After finishing, he stepped back and let Adrian take the stage -
"I will be your vice-captain from now on. If you want my help, you can ask me. I would just make one thing clear. If you want to live peacefully, you will give me the respect that a vice-captain deserves. That's all!"
Adrian Spoke what he deemed necessary, he wasn't here to become a full-fledged knight. He would leave in less than a month and hence there was no need to become close with the knights.
"Thank you, Sir Adrian. Now you can continue your regular training while I talk to Sir Adr˗"
As the captain was finishing, he saw a knight raise his hand, wanting to ask something. He was a regular knight.
"Yes, knight Highlogh. What do you want to say" the captain asked.
"Sir captain, we cannot believe that the new vice-captain defeated sir Viren. Therefore, we three brothers would like to fight him and see if he really deserves our respect.
As he said in his speech, he wants the respect of a vice-captain but we can't give it to him without confirming if he is really deserving of it."
The knight spoke respectfully as he had his doubts about Adrian. He wasn't the only one with this thinking, every knight doubted Adrian's skills but kept quiet as the captain had witnessed his skills.
"How can you ask of such a thing; it would be insulting Sir Adrian" The captain didn't want to look rude to Adrian. He wanted to get close to this genius who seemed to have a great future ahead.
"Let them fight sir captain. I have no problem with it."
Adrian allowed the knight to fight him, getting the captain out of his tough spot. He also wanted to display his strength so that he could have a peaceful time here. If they thought that he was weak and undeserving of his post, they would not listen to his orders. He would also have to listen to mean remarks behind his back.
"Okay! Since sir Adrian has allowed it. you three can fight him but it will only be with wooden weapons. Now move to the training field."
Captain ordered everyone to move for the match. He was also excited to watch Adrain's match. Yesterday the match ended too fast for the captain to see Adrian's full skills.
"Sir Adrian we are ready, can I start now?"
Knight Highlogh asked as he entered the ring from the opposite entrance of Adrian. Adrian had a long wooden stick in his right hand about the length of a normal wooden spear.
"Why are you alone? I don't have time to fight you three one by one. Come at me together"
Adrian replied seeing only Highlogh enter the ring. He wanted to edge the power difference into their minds so that they do not dare to disturb him.
"What? He wants to fight three 3-star aura knights alone at the same time. Even our captain wouldn't be able to win against three of them. Isn't he just throwing away the match"
"that's not all, he is not fighting any regular knights who are bad at team work. He is trying to fight the trio of the brothers whose teamwork is acknowledged by even the count himself. The count bestowed them the title of the trident of the Nardino Knights"
The knights spectating the match started whispering without hiding their shock. They were stunned to see someone so young overestimating himself so much.
"Sir Vice-captain, if you wish so then we will spar according to your wishes but try not to get injured as we might use more force due to our habit when fighting together"
The knight named Highlogh said with a smirk as two more knights appeared. They were his brothers who with him collectively were called the trident of Nadino. They were named Midlogh and Lowlogh respectively.
They had green hair and were in their late twenties. Their hairstyle made them unique from each other. Highlogh had a puffy hair, Midlogh had 2 curls on his forehead while Lowlogh had a single curl on his forehead.
"Now come at me!" Adrian said as he enveloped the stick with his aura.
