Chapter 83

Tension quickly replaced the spell of pleasure among the two secret lovers, as the knock continued on the door.

"What do we do?" Queen Charlotte asked in a hushed tone as she hurriedly slipped back into her dress. "We would both be dead if we get found out here."

"I am fully aware of that," Xavier whispered, as he put on his clothes. They were soon stuck in-between several alternatives of which none seemed to be promising.

"Do something, then… the longer you delay, the more room you're giving for suspicion." Charlotte was getting impatient with the whole thing, as she was pressing on to Xavier for a solution he didn't seem to have.

"Well… we could tell her that you came for a visitation…" Xavier said, as his troubled mind couldn't reach any more solutions than that. "Maybe you came to see her, and she wasn't here, and you decided to wait for her…"
