There was an announcement of a team gathering for genins. The mission was for patrolling, and they needed an extra 3 genins.
The rank of the mission is a higher C, meaning that there was a possibility of meeting missing nins: genins, or chunins. The mission was under the lead of an experienced chunin.
'So it's an easy hunt,' he thought to himself. 'Hopefully.'
An easy hunt or not, it's just a possibility. In this world, anything could happen. He could one day go to a toilet and find himself face to face with an Otsutsuki.
That's not the point. He looked at the mission details. He then headed toward the Hokage's mansion and met with a blonde woman who registered him for the mission. After that, he was asked to go and meet his team by some training ground on the northern borders of the village by noon.
Since he still had some time left, Kuzo went back home. It would be wise to prepare his gears. Maybe he would spend some time thinking about worst-case scenarios and how he would face them.
It was a necessary step for his path to become the strongest and achieve the mental image he had in his brain. Kuzo was gathering his gears, starting from Kunai to shurikens.
His father opened his door and entered. Kuzo's heart almost jumped, and he turned his head, wanting to scream at his dad for not knocking. But he didn't dare to do that yet to a special jonin, not if he didn't want to get Asian Parental love.
'Seriously. How would I masturbate peacefully with him not knocking on my door.'
"I heard that you have gotten your first mission."
"Yep."
"Hunting a kitty?"
"No. Patrolling at the borders."
"Isn't that quite dangerous for your first mission?"
"Who knows. One gotta take risks sometimes."
"I see." His dad looked at his gears. "Where are your explosive tags?"
"I couldn't afford them."
"Here." His father reached behind his back, grabbed a stack of papers, and threw it to Kuzo.
When he noticed that he caught explosive tags, Kuzo's heart almost jumped. You know, it was like holding a grenade.
He had witnessed them exploding when he was at school. That was what his memory told him. Explosive tags were dangerous tools with different explosive ranges and intensity.
"Thanks, dad." He replied.
"Just come back alive." His father turned and left.
Kuzo then continued working on his gears. When he finished, he left to the meeting location.

Kuzo went to the meeting point on the north side of the village. He found that he wasn't the first to arrive.
There was a young girl with black hair, and an older white-haired boy with glasses.
The white-haired boy looked familiar. Kuzo, who was approaching them, didn't even dare to look at the glasses boy and smiled.
"Yo. You're up for the mission too." Kuzo said.
The white-haired man said. "That's right. My name is Kabuto. This is Ano. And who are you."
The girl named Ano nodded.
"Kuzo. Nice to meet you. Hope we get along." Kuzo introduced himself.
Meanwhile, his heart was pounding louder and louder while he avoided eye contact with Kabuto.
What was Orochimaru's spy doing on the same mission with him?
This mission was to patrol on the northern borders.
Was he trying to find openings to get inside the village?
"Stop behaving too polite." Ano said. "Is this your first mission."
"Not exactly. But technically, yes." Kuzo answered honestly. "I've engaged against a rogue genin before."
"I see, not a burden to watch over. Good." Ano replied.
"Isn't that quite rude. Don't ninjas work on a team to depend on each other."
"As you said, depend. The last thing any team wants is someone who needs protection and can't do a thing."
"Don't worry. I can take care of myself," Kuzo replied, quite annoyed.
A hand tapped Kuzo's shoulder from behind. When he turned his eyes, he noticed a green vest that chunins had.
Did this chunin get behind him without him realizing.
'I'm getting more surprised here than on my birthday.'
"Good to see you guys getting along." Said the strange man. "I'm the chunin who's at your lead. You can call me Hamuro. Hope we get along."
Hamuro sounded like a friendly man. But who knew what kind of person he was. Kabuto was friendly as well, but he's a cruel man who toys and experiments on living humans.
Kuzo took a deep breath and decided not to overthink. As long as he was with experienced ninjas, it should be safe to hunt around.
"Hamuro san. Heard a lot about you. Congratulation for achieving your chunin rank."
"Thank you, Kabuto san. I'm quite sad to see that you failed your chunin test, again. But I hope you make it the next exam."
"I hope so." Kabuto smiled. "Thank you."
Hold up. Hamuro was a recent chunin, which is no better than an experienced genin. Kuzo frowned. Would he even make it out alive now with such a person on their lead.
Kuzo sighed. "Let's just carry on, shall we."
"Someone is in high spirits." Kabuto commented with a friendly smile.
"No. He wants to get over with it," replied Ano.
The chunin chuckled and Kuzo shrugged his shoulder. There was nothing to do but praying that he would get out safe.

While heading out of the village, running on the trees and crossing a training ground, Kuzo was thinking about one thing.
Why was Kabuto here?
It didn't feel well.
The last thing Kuzo wanted was crossroads with Orochimaru. There was a reason why Naruto's first part was like a horror movie, and Orochimaru could take the credit for that.
'But if there is something I wish to happen in the future, it would be to have a fight with that Kaguya clan's man. It would be wonderful to have his bloodline. But at this time, he's healthy, so I don't want to approach him. I guess he's more than a Jonin level.' He thought.
The sun set, and they arrived at a forest. They found a near river.
Hamuro announced. "We'll camp here. Once everyone is well-rested, we'll continue with the patrol."
"Excuse me." Ano interrupted. "How much do we have to patrol."
"Not much. We still have around 100 kilometers (62 miles). After that, we shall go home." Said Hamuro.
Ano sighed, and Kabuto made a forced smile. Kuzo shrugged.
"Now. Ano, set the camp. Kabuto, gather the wood and Kuzo, find us some food." Hamuro ordered.
Everyone started working. Kuzo walked to the river while self-debating if he should use jutsu to pick up fishes or use the classical way.
'At any case, I'll recover after I eat. Why not spend more chakra.'
He stood above the water, and he reached his pocket, grabbing a bit of bread remains. He crushed them with his fingers, and he threw them. Soon, small fishes gathered, followed by bigger ones. Kuzo then formed a few hand seals. The modest amount of water flew out of the river, hitting the ground. What remained was a bunch of dead fishes and some fishes struggling to live.
'So this is the jutsu that dude tried to kill me with. He surely looked down at me. Now he's down the ground.' Kuzo thought as he gathered the fishes in a bag.
But then he stopped when he noticed something. A faint blue energy took the shape of fishes and was absorbed by his seal.
'Wait. I can devour even the animals' powers. Well, that's new.'
Kuzo tried to move and run. But he didn't feel like he got any stronger. Maybe the strength provided by these fishes was so petty that it didn't count.
Then he headed back to the camp. Ano was already done setting up everything. Kabuto had gathered wood, and so they camped. The captain of the team started cooking.
"By the way, Kuzo. You should never use your ninjutsu unnecessarily." Said Hamuro.
"I caught the fishes with it, no?" Kuzo justified.
"What if someone attacked us. Would you have the energy to fight?"
"I'm not tired." Kuzo replied.
"But you'd end up getting tired. If your opponent ended up having a bit more chakra than you, how would you feel to know that you could beat him if you only had a bit more energy." Kuzo resonated.
He had a good point.
"Guess it sucks." Kuzo replied. "So, you should hurry and cook so we could recover."
Hamuro sighed. He mumbled. "Kids nowadays."
Says the recent chunin.
Kuzo grabbed a stick and stuck a fish to it before he went down to eat.
He looked left and right. He asked. "Where is Kabuto san?"
"He went to gather some resources." Replied Ano.
"I see." Kuzo nodded and took a bite of his food. He got hungrier, and he bit more.
'This Gluttony cursed seal is making me hungrier!' he was getting quite frustrated. He had a feeling that what would calm this hunger was hunting a few genins down.
While he was eating, Kuzo felt a hand on him, pushing him flying. It was Hamuro, who picked up dirt with his hand and threw it on the fire.
"Everyone. Be careful; we have a company." He said as he vanished.
What attacked their original spot was a large mud stream.
His heart beat faster and louder. Kuzo jumped to his feet and picked up a kunai from his pocket.
"As expected from the Konoha's ninja." Said a feminine voice. He turned his head. A woman in a white mask and a cloak was talking. Behind her were a bunch of masked ninjas. They were around 6. Despite feeling a hostile intent from them, they didn't give a murderous aura as this woman.
"Who are you, and what you are doing here?" Said Hamuro. "If you are from the stone land, you'd end up causing a large scale war."
"We have no intent in replying to a soon to be dead man." Said the masked woman.
"One of you, go back to the nearest guard point and bring a jonin with you. I have a feeling that this night is going to be long."
"Not if we kill them first." The woman pointed with her hand forward. "Kill them."
The shinobis behind her formed a series of hand seals. Hamuro jumped in the air, formed a few hand seals, and released a jet of fire from his mouth.
Boulders rose from the ground and flew. Some exploded when they met the jet of fire. But most survived the impact and headed toward Ano and Kuzo, who were running away.
