For the next few days, William Cole focused on healing his injuries in the Holy City, seemingly overlooked by everyone that he had been the most severely wounded.
If it wasn't for the dragon-shaped jade pendant, he would have died once. Now that Mrs. Cole and Ruth Dawn were okay, William Cole could finally rest and recover. During those days in the Holy City, aside from his daily visits to examine the elderly lady's health and detoxify her, William Cole hadn't done anything else.
Each day, he petted cats, sunbathed with Ruth, and revived his long-lost cooking skills he hadn't used for over a year.
Ruth Dawn savored her meal, a smile flashing across her face, "It's been a long time since I tasted your cooking."
"Back in Midocen, I ate your cooking every day until I grew tired of it. But now, it tastes different. Why is that?"
William Cole gave a light chuckle, "Perhaps the ingredients in the Holy City are better, they are all natural and free from harmful substances."
