All eyes turned towards William Cole.
Elder Witt looked at William Cole, "William Cole, what are you implying?"
William Cole smiled, "Elder Witt, these people have accused me of twenty-seven crimes. Eighteen of which could sentence me to death directly, and the remaining nine could put me in prison for more than thirty years."
"I would very much like to know what I, William Cole, had actually done to deserve so many charges?"
"This matter must be investigated thoroughly. If I am guilty, I will admit it."
"However, if I am innocent, whoever falsely accused me must pay the price."
William Cole's firm voice made Mildred Wyatt's pretty face pale.
The evidence, she presented against William Cole, was mostly forged. Even if there were some problems with a small portion of it, she did not gather all the evidence and it could not stand scrutiny.
Once an investigation was carried out, she would be blamed and would have to take responsibility for this matter.
